Valuation: 72% share price discount
the Zani-Kodo resource of US$17.0m, or US$6.50 per resource oz or 1.22cps for Mwana’s 80% attributable interest in the project and close to the average cost of discovery of a 2.6Moz resource globally. While the met test work results will not alter the in situ valuation of the resource, they help dispel any immediate concerns/risks relating to the project’s metallurgy (already somewhat mitigated by the development of proximate projects such as Randgold Resources’ Kibali and AngloGold Ashanti’s Mongbwalu) and thereby increase the probability that the deposit will be developed into an operating mine.........Gold: New benchmarks for old, it is possible for an investment of US$78/oz to increase the value of in situ resources to c US$300/oz. Edison’s valuation of Mwana remains 21.1-21.6cps.
Process route options remain open
The composites were tested at a (standard) grind size of 80% passing 75μm and a residence time of 24 hours and demonstrated relatively low cyanide consumption of 0.8-1.0kg/t (vs 1.5-2.5kg/t typically). This is significant for two reasons: 1) a requirement for a finer grind on sulphidic ores invariably increases cyanide consumption; and 2) cyanide consumption is at approximately the level at which the cost of its recovery equals the value of the cyanide recovered.
