Granite Broadcasting Increases Support for Tablet TV

London 19 December 2012: Motive Television PLC (AIM: MTV.LN), the London-based television software and services company, announced today that Granite Broadcasting Corporation ("Granite") has provided additional investment into Tablet Television LLC, a joint venture with Motive as the project moves toward market testing and launch in 2013. Motive and Granite are 50/50 partners in Tablet Television LLC ("Tablet TV") which is based in New York City.

The investment by Granite will provide additional development and working capital for Tablet TV which is expected to launch its beta test and services in Granite markets in early 2013 and then roll out across the United States after the successful completion of the prototype development phase.

In the coming months, Motive anticipates commercialising the Tablet TV product for the ATSC standard in the United States and launching it in a first Granite Television market early in 2013, making it possible for users of iPads, Android tablets, and other portable devices to watch and record television programs directly from broadcast TV in any location. Tablet TV plans to roll out to all major markets and cities in the US, shortly thereafter.

Tablet TV is a joint venture of Motive Television and Granite Broadcasting Corporation that was formed in May 2012 to make it possible to broadcast live television to the rapidly growing population of tablets in the United States. Recently it completed the development of a prototype demonstration that has been exhibited at Granite HQ in New York City.

Peter Markham, Chairman of Granite Broadcasting Corporation, said

"Tablet Television is a potentially enormous opportunity for broadcasters, content owners, and pay television businesses as it opens up a significant new opportunity for the existing digital broadcast distribution system. We are fully committed to support this initiative and confident it will have a very valuable place in the US television industry in the future. Tablet TV has demonstrated that it works well in multiple configurations and we look forward to launching in a Granite market."

Leonard M Fertig, CEO of Motive, added,

"We believe there is nothing anywhere in the world like Tablet TV in terms of the simplicity of the consumer offer, value for the viewer, quality of the picture, and efficiency for the broadcaster. We believe that once our devices are introduced in the first Granite market in 2013 the service should "go viral'. Unlike other alternatives, Tablet TV provides a simple solution, like Freeview in the UK, where a viewer will be able to receive all locally-available digital broadcast TV stations in high definition, record what he wants for later viewing, and optionally subscribe for video-on-demand movie, sports, and entertainment packages. And it will work everywhere in the United States on any tablet with our app. Granite's partnership in terms of industry endorsement, hosting our first markets, and providing financial resources is a valuable asset."
