White Nile Limited01 August 2005 1st August 2005 White Nile Limited ('White Nile' or 'the Company') White Nile Ltd, the AIM listed oil and gas exploration company, announces thatit has been informed that Dr John Garang, the First Vice President of theRepublic of Sudan and the President of the Government of South Sudan, has diedin an air crash on his return from an official visit to Uganda. The Company isextremely saddened by the news and offers its condolences to Dr Garang's familyand the people of Sudan. White Nile has been in contact with its major shareholder Nile PetroleumCorporation and representatives of the South Sudanese Government. It has beeninformed that the new constitution will continue to be implemented and that thedeath of Dr Garang will not affect the planned development of the country underthe terms of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement ('CPA') signed at the beginningof the year. White Nile Chairman Phil Edmonds said: "We are all extremely saddened to hearthis news and we offer the utmost sympathy to the people of South Sudan and inparticular Dr John's family. We will continue to work closely with our partnersin South Sudan and will provide the people with all the support we can in orderfor them to continue to develop their oil industry and infrastructure.
