Embargoed: 0700hrs 25 August 2005 Northern Petroleum Plc ("Northern" or the "Company") Appointment of new Finance Director Northern is pleased to announce the appointment to the Board, with immediateeffect, of Chris Foss as Finance Director.Chris, aged 33, has been the Group Financial Controller and Company Secretaryof Northern for the last two and a half years, and is also currently theFinance Director of OFEX quoted ATI Oil Plc. He is a member of the Institute ofChartered Accountants in England and Wales. Between 1998 and his joining theCompany, Chris held various finance positions with, and acted as a consultantto, energy related subsidiaries of GE Capital Corporation, Bechtel Group Inc,United Technologies Corporation and Centrica Plc.Following Chris' appointment, Jerry White will remain on the Board as a nonexecutive director and will now take on the role of Chairman of the AuditCommittee.Richard Latham, Chairman of Northern commented:"Northern is now progressing towards operations in the Netherlands as well asthe UK, Italy, Spain and Guyane.
