HOUSTON, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Gasoline soared in West Coastrefined products spot markets on Wednesday as traders said a SanFrancisco Bay refinery was having problems recovering from amalfunction earlier in the week.
In the San Francisco market, September-delivery CARBOBgasoline climbed 8.25 cents a gallon to 15 cents over OctoberNYMEX RBOB gasoline.
Traders said Royal Dutch Shell Plc's 156,400barrel-per-day (bpd) Martinez, California, refinery had yet torecover from malfunctions on Tuesday.
A company spokeswoman declined to discuss the status of therefinery's operations.
In the Los Angeles market, September CARBOB, made to meetCalifornia's strict environmental standards, climbed 6 cents agallon to 11 cents over October NYMEX RBOB.
September-delivery gasoline in the Portland, Oregon, marketrose 4.5 cents a gallon to 6 cents over October NYMEX RBOB.
September CARB diesel, named for the California AirResources Board that determines its formula, gained 0.5 cent at2.5 cents a gallon over October NYMEX heating oil in the L.A.market.
In the Bay market, CARB diesel retreated 2.5 cents to 2cents a gallon over October NYMEX heating oil.
Portland September diesel rose 1 cent to 2.5 cents a gallonover October heating oil.
