LONDON (Alliance News) - Clean fuel and energy storage company ITM Power PLC on Tuesday said it has launched its first public access hydrogen refuelling station in London at the National Physical Laboratory, Teddington.
The station is the first of three to be deployed in the UK as part of the pan-European HyFive project, funded by the European Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking and the UK Government Office of Low Emission Vehicles.
"We are extremely pleased to have launched the first of the company's HyFive hydrogen refuelling stations in London providing clean fuel for a range of fuel cell electric vehicle types that are now available from the auto OEMs," said ITM Chief Executive Graham Cooley.
Earlier in the day, ITM and London-listed renewable electricity provider Good Energy Group PLC announced a partnership to explore the best way of using renewable energy to power ITM's hydrogen refuelling stations in the UK.
Under the deal, ITM and Good Energy will look for the optimal way of using green energy to produce the hydrogen at the refuelling stations, which in turn will be purchased by consumers.
ITM shares were up 9.0% to 14.98 pence on Tuesday, while Good Energy shares were up 1.3% to 220.90p.
