LONDON (Alliance News) - Stagecoach Group PLC said Wednesday that its low-cost travel business, Megabus.com, is to launch a range of services in the Benelux region and will open a dedicated office in Belgium.
Megabus.com will create 20 jobs with the creation of the new office, based at Sint-Pieters-Leeuw in the Flemish Brabant province, near Brussels.
The new services will travel from Brussels to Luxembourg, Lille in France and Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Stagecoach said.
"This will be our first base in mainland Europe and gives us scope to operate these new services, as well as increasing the frequency on a number of our existing routes to and from Brussels," said Megabus.com Managing Director Elizabeth Esnouf.
?We have been operating in Belgium for a couple of years now and we are seeing an increasing number of people choosing coach travel for long journeys," Esnouf added.
Stagecoach shares were trading 0.1% lower at 367.4 pence per share on Wednesday.
