Tue, 01st Sep 2020 09:32

(Sharecast News) - The number of people out of a job in Germany fell again in July, according to figures released by Destatis on Tuesday.
The number of jobless people declined by 9,000 to 2.92 million, having fallen by 17,000 the month before, while the unemployment rate was steady at 6.4%. Analysts had expected both readings to be unchanged.

Meanwhile, the number of registered job vacancies in August was 584,000, down 211,000 on the year.

Germany announced last week that it was extending its furlough scheme - due to expire in March next year - until the end of 2021.
