Covid outbreak sees Dekel push back production start at Tiebissou

(Sharecast News) - Dekel Agri-Vision updated the market on its 10,000 tonnes per annum - expandable to 30,000 tonnes - raw cashew nut processing project at Tiebissou in C?te d'Ivoire on Tuesday, which is currently under development.
The AIM-traded firm said it has been advised by the Italy-based manufacturer Oltremare that production of the milling equipment had now recommenced.

Manufacturing of the equipment had been suspended due to the severity of the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak in Italy.

Dekel said delivery of the equipment was now expected to take place in four shipments from July, which the company now expected would extend the start of production at Tiebissou by up to a maximum of three months from the original target date of January 2021.

In C?te d'Ivoire, on site works to develop the project were continuing with minimal disruption, the board said, explaining that activity at the site has been focused on preparing the ground for the concrete works.

"As operations at Tiebissou have continued during this period of global uncertainty, we are pleased to see that manufacturing of our milling equipment has recommenced, putting us back on track to achieve our aim of first production commencing during the first half 2021," said executive director Lincoln Moore.

"This remains an exciting period for Dekel and the Tiebissou village and I look forward to providing further updates on progress made on the ground during the construction phase of what will be the Company's second producing agriculture project in C?te d'Ivoire."

At 1034 BST, shares in Dekel Agri-Vision were down 4.55% at 2.1p.
