BigDish Co-Founder Aiden Bishop To Step Down As Executive Chair

Tue, 02nd Jul 2019 11:21

(Alliance News) - BigDish PLC co-founder Aiden Bishop has stepped down from his role as executive chair but remain on the board as an executive director, the company said on Tuesday.

Non-Executive Director Jonathan Morley-Kirk has been promoted to non-executive chair of the discount dining platform. In January, Joost Boer, another BigDish co-founder, stepped down from the board and as chief executive officer to become the chief product officer.

The company also said Tuesday it will launch its platform in Brighton next week, as part of plans to make the application available nationwide in the UK.

BigDish unveiled a brand ambassador programme after having positive discussions with celebrities and influencers about promoting the platform on social media, in exchange for company shares instead of a salary.

CEO Sanj Naha, who was appointed to replace Boer, said: "The launch of our Brand Ambassador Program is a fantastic milestone for the company. I believe that this will significantly boost our user acquisition strategy as well as bringing national awareness of BigDish both to the general public and to the restaurant sector.

"It is also great to see brand ambassadors becoming aligned with the vision of the company by becoming long term shareholders."

In June, BigDish announced plans to make its platform available in Reading, after receiving GBP2.1million from investors in California, which had helped ensure the company remains funded until 2021.

Naha, who has held senior positions at TripAdvisor and Booktable, said: "The summer period enables us to put our heads down and work hard on the non-visible aspects of the business. From September onwards, I expect BigDish to be firing on all cylinders across the whole country."

Shares in BigDish, which was also made available in Swindon, Exeter and Basingstoke in May, were up 4.1% at 4.89 pence in London on Tuesday morning.
