Knew about it since Tuesday and have reaped the rewards. Market abuse at it's finest.
Has this LSE board stopped allowing posters to use 'parentheses' when posting? What's with all of this ... "-£ ... malarkey?
Hi Guys, Been patiently waiting. My 15p(ish) Ladbrokes entry point reached last Thursday. "Ladbrokes faces a year-long battle with competition regulators after agreeing a £2.3bn merger with smaller rival Gala Coral to create Britain’s biggest bookmaker" [Telegraph 24 July 2015] Does this mean possibly an early leak of News? (When Ladbrokes tried to buy Coral in 1998 from its then-owner Bass, it was blocked on competition grounds). a t b
It has to be. Sudden surge in volume yesterday around 12pm and sp very bullish today.
this must be the only reason

Yesterday over 12m, 6x more than usual. Merger news leaked to the city?
go ahead given for the merger
something going on???????
Jeremy Corbyn at the start of the election for the Labour leadership was 500/1, sometimes it's worth a punt on these far fetching odds. Look at Trump, no one gave him a chance in hell. I'm gonna find out what the odds are on Professor Stephen Hawkin becoming the next James Bond and have a few quid on him.
A £10 Ladbrokes Bet scoops a whopping £33,333 for a fortunate punter. He placed a £5 each way bet on Leicester at 5000/1 back in August and managed to avoid the temptation of offers to settle the bet by Ladbrokes. He booked the trip to Florida for the family in March, when the Foxes were odds-on to win the league and won £33,333. Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "We've never known a fan as confident as Keval. Not cashing out is one thing, but missing the decisive match because you've already spent your winnings on a holiday is another altogether." > Makes you bl@@dy sick. If he's in Liverpool (and now that its in the papers) he'll be burgled when he gets back. [JOKE]
Hello '458Ferrari' (and all) ... Well, that's the Early May Bank Holiday out of the way. The next one will be the Spring Bank Holiday - Monday May 30th. I see that Leicester made it a double with "The Jester" + 'Footy'. I can remember (but not exactly when) John Virgo saying on TV : "Get £100 on with the Bookies that ('in your lifetime') China will have a World Champion at Snooker" That's quite some time ago and I'll bet that the odds were very good back then. Still waiting of JG's prediction to come up trumps ... but we just came so very close to it this last weekend with a 'first time Asian player' in the Final. I am an avid Ding fan and at 29 I believe that he hasn't peaked as yet - with his best yet to come. Unfortunately there will be no more Good Value Bets on any of Ding's future games. Those days are long gone. Wow! How the 'little guy' has matured since his first foray onto our screens! The only negative thing about Ding is that he is a MUFC supporter - (lol). On t'other side o' coin I just cannot 'warm' to the personality of Mark Selby. Although Snooker-wise he has established himself as An-All-Time-Great. "The Jester from Leicester" - now which hat did they get that name from? MS very rarely cracks a smile. (Just as well he's not from Sri Lanka?) '458Ferrari' - an emphatic YES - re' having a humble quid @ 5,000/1. (Daily Telegraph) : "By way of comparison, the odds offered on Leicester winning were twice as long as the 2,500-1 odds offered on Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards winning Ski Jumping Gold at the 1988 Winter Olympics" An 'old' gambling friend of mine said that he wouldn't mind laying a - 'crafty quid' on - - Leicester being RELEGATED next season ... [remember that you read it on here first] Another "one-that-got-away" that I missed out on was the 1967 Grand National winner ... ... Foinavon @ 100/1. (A [good?] story for another day). I have (another) good story about betting on the 1963 Grand National winner - Ayala. My Dad 'lumped' on the 1962 winner Kilmore (hurrah!!) and won Big Time on that bet. Well, that's enough of the Memory Lane sauntering, eh? How about a bit of News? In the Guardian business section it was reported that : " Ladbrokes faces a £3 million bill if Leicester win Premier League" So - what's the next "long-shot-BIG-betting-odds"? According to the Independent newspaper : "UKIP have as much chance of winning the European Elections as finding an Alien" How about Jeremy Corbyn landing the next 007 James Bond role?
I bet you wished you had a quid on Leicester at 5000/1? The odds on Leicester winning the premiership were greater than the Queen getting Christmas No1, that's currently 2000/1, Elvis being found alive also 2000/1, David Cameron becoming Aston Villa manager 1000/1.
Hello '458Ferrari' (and all) ... Regarding the odds that you have quoted : I'll have crafty quid on "Customer gets a Christmas No.1" @ 25,000/1. Well - as long as it ain't this one, that is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYzTFCFXRSY 'Bruce Willis' - sings - 'The Ladbrokes Betting Shop Blues' ... Yeah Baby! I was just musing the other day about the William Hill floatation in 2002. I wanted to by into this 'at-the-ground-floor' but I got 'knocked back' ... ... the shares were over subscribed. This is interesting : http://www.theguardian.com/business/2002/jun/18/4 Whomsoever it was that first said -- "It's a Funny old World" -- had something there! Have a really good Sporting Bank Holiday weekend - to All.
11/4 Customer accepts 7/5 Doesn't accept 100/1 Customer has died 25000/1 Customer gets a Christmas No.1
https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/leicester-fan--cashed-out--after-first-match-of-the-season-and-won-just-45p-130758619.html One punter made the "worst cash out decision in history" after taking a 45p return on a 5000/1 bet on Leicester City winning the Premier League. The unnamed Ladbrokes customer staked 50p on the Foxes taking the title at the beginning of the season and stood to win £2,500 had they let the bet ride. But instead they decided to take a 45p return after just the first game of the season which Claudio Ranieri's men won 4-2 against Sunderland. As a consolation, the bookmaker has asked the customer to come forward to offer them a pair of tickets to a game next season plus a free bet on any team to win the 2016/17 title. Can I have odds on this Ladbrokes customer NOT accepting the Ladbrokes offer ?
Just seen Rangers lift the 'Championship Trophy' in Scotland. ("Party Time" for Rangers the commentator said). My TV screen was 'awash' with the White and Red Ladbrokes logo. Mr. Kristof Fahey - Ladbrokes Chief Marketing Officer - - if that was anything to do with you ... 'pat-on-the-back is quite in order"
Thanks
Hello 'The-Oracle' (and all) ... (You asked): Re' the possible Merger - What are the current odds for this to get the go ahead? Dunno? Have you got a coin in your pocket that I could borrow for a second? Seriously, there is this from 16 hours ago ..... Ladbrokes, Gala Coral deal to be tied up this week - report ... totallygaming.com/news/.../ladbrokes-gala-coral-deal-be-tied-week-repor... 16 hours ago - Ladbrokes' £2bn (€2.83bn/$3.14bn) merger with Gala Coral could be ... to any agreement concerning the possible merger or as to the timing or ... http://totallygaming.com/news/street/ladbrokes-gala-coral-deal-be-tied-week-report Thursday, April 21, 2016 "Ladbrokes’ £2bn (€2.83bn/$3.14bn) merger with Gala Coral could be confirmed as early as this week" according to a report in UK newspaper The Sunday Times. In an update this morning (Monday), Ladbrokes said: “Shareholders are advised that there can be no certainty that the discussions between Ladbrokes and Gala Coral will lead to any agreement concerning the possible merger or as to the timing or terms of any such agreement and there can be no assurance that, even if reached, any such agreement would be completed” There are 4 (pictorial) links. RNS - Q1 2016 Trading Update - Results and Trading Reports Just had a 'speed-read' of this one. On the whole I would say a good RNS. Lots to read - consider and digest. I am making this RNS a night-time-read. Methinks a Thermos of good filter coffee and a whole packet of Jaffa cakes. Sshh-hhh!!! When everything has gone quiet in this noisy household of ours. My entry point is looking remote after this RNS. May have to reconsider?!!? I should have bought in at 115p ..... > D e r - r r r r r!!! < S.P. now showing 120p + ..... watch it spike ..... Good Luck to all of you L A D 's
I think a few years ago Ladbrokes did do financial betting as I think I used this service they had.Not rearly sure why they stopped I guess it was not profitable for them.
how did Ladbrokes make operating profits of 227 million in 2012 and this figure has gone steadly downhill since then ?
Ladbrokes and Paddy Power dont provide a financial betting service whilst William Hill and Bet365 see it as an important part of their revenue Anyone explain why?
