Red Lake 49
Located three kilometres south of the Red Lake townsite and three kilometres west of Hwy. 105, good progress has been reported in slowing the spread of the fire towards the community.
Never heard of a wild fire that would 'go backwards'.

Progress Made On Red Lake Fire 49
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says its making strides on Red Lake Fire 49 and there was limited spread Tuesday.
Information Officer Chris Marchand says warm, dry and windy conditions continue but notes wet weather is expected to enter the area Thursday or Friday,
“Firefighters are hoping forecasts for lighter winds will allow them the chance to limit the fire spread in the direction of the town site of Red Lake as well as Highway 105. And it’s seen some good progress in their efforts so far.

Aug 12, 2020 10:14 AM The Mayor of Red Lake stresses this is going to be a very difficult day for the community.Fred Mota says Red Lake Fire 49 is now burning 2.5-kilometres away from the community and they are experiencing heavy smoke.“The winds have changed from the west to the southeast which means the fire has turned direction and is burning towards the community. In more particular areas, the geographic’s of Red Lake, it’s burning towards Madsen and the far end of Red Lake which is known as Buffalo.”
