At 09:00 AM, the FTSE 100 Index was up by 13.8 at 6899.12 points, a movement of 0.2%, showing a gentle rise in the market.
International Airlines (IAG) was a well traded share, with approximately £1,653.1m (0.156%) worth of shares changing hands.
Overall, 52% of the companies in the FTSE 100 Index were up, and 45% were down; giving a positive view of the day so far.

Some of the losing shares were Aviva (AV.) which fell -3.66%, International Airlines (IAG) losing -2.55% and Smith (DS) (SMDS) which dropped -2.14%. Most of the falling shares came from the Tourism and Leisure, Household Utilities and Media sector(s).
