Happens on public holiday in the states. I first saw the story in the morning yesterday, I'm in no way connected or looking for this stuff. How did it take so long for markets to react?!
just wonder what appends when America wakes LOL
TOLD YOU SO :-)
So easy to crash markets these days.
kt1588, the delay in no rise in rates shows how fragile the economy is and I do agree the government should STOP spending the pound needs a bit of a boost as well and an interest rate rise will do that,
i'm not sure about that but think they are tied to Govt too closely. for me QE should stop before interest rates go up.

The BoE Have not got the ba**s
the UN study suggested 1.5% of ww inflation is down to increased freight costs but these are now reducing dramatically.
I really think that the bank of England would act and increase interest rates
Come on Bank of england do it now
the trouble with that treetop is that people do not have control and they over reach themselves that is where it becomes problematic
If debt is cheap use it until it becomes too expensive then pay it off and be prudent. Plenty have become rich behaving like that,it has boosted economies until the bills come in.

IMHO, IF YOUR in debt you have to service it, which will drain your cash so run debt free and use your profits to expand
when we had proper interest rates people used to save and the economy was better off and governments paid of outstanding debt.
the same for governments, companies and individuals........no one wants to wait for things when they have the cash.
and then the extra interest collected by boe goes back to the treasury
WHAT is the point in running the economy based on debt ?
BORROWING DOWN by government the interest rates up lol
for the last 18months with this index punters either made money buying it or lost selling or actually did neither and have no interest in it. the bears are the losers and the bulls the winners.
Haven't seen 8000. ?? Still one of the weakest indexes made up ???
I am always amazed at the excuses on posts for what is plainly obvious. The reason this index lags behind so far is because there isn't much to invest in. These companies may go up little or a lot but always sink lower than when they started to move up. If the FTSE 100 offers so much value why is it not being siezed upon.
Still almost 10% down on pre pandemic. So sad that this group of 100 companies is the best the market has. When rhe markets correct this is going to crash
COME ON B o E lets have this rate rise and get the footsie rocking
this could be why jp morgan has turned bullish on the ftse for the first time since brexit vote

FCA being Investigated by the FRC :-) might just go down a tad
THEY HAVE surely got to go UP very soon
