System C Healthcare plc26 March 2007 System C Healthcare wins major IT contract with Isle of Man Government DHSS System C Healthcare plc is delighted to announce that the company and itsproducts have been chosen by the Isle of Man Government Department of Health &Social Security (DHSS) to provide an island-wide healthcare IT service. System Cwill be installing software solutions both at the Nobles hospital in Douglas andthroughout the island's community services to provide a fully integratedClinical Care Support Service (CCSS) serving all care settings. The contract with the DHSS is a three phase framework contract with an estimatedvalue of £7.5m over seven years. The bulk of the software is expected to bedelivered in 2007/8. At Nobles' Hospital, on the outskirts of the Island's capital, Douglas, System Cwill be providing its MedWay Electronic Patient Record system to manage allclinical and administrative requirements. MedWay comprises an advanced PatientAdministration System (PAS) and a clinical workstation with test results,orders, clinical noting, correspondence, integrated X-Ray viewing and clinicaldata collection and analysis. System C will also be providing a range of integrated departmental solutionsincluding document tracking, maternity, pharmacy, theatres, prescribing andaccident and emergency. Its HealthData Manager suite will provide statisticaland management reporting facilities, and links to both new and existingspecialist systems will be provided using the Rhapsody interface engine. Thiswill enable clinicians workling across the island to be given access toelectronic care pathways via the CCSS. The community aspects of the CCSS programme will include social services,community (GP and Pharmacy services) and mental health applications as well asan ambulance system. All of the island's healthcare systems will be linked together using a singleconsolidated patient index and an island-wide electronic health record, allowingcare providers to view a consolidated and shared record of each islander'shealthcare details. A unique feature of the programme is the extremely tight integration of thirdparty products into the overall solution. Systems such as the Eclipse MaternitySystem are completely integrated with MedWay so that users can enter maternitydetails or view X-rays directly from MedWay screens.
