"The Controls business continues to strengthen its leading market position, withthe products division focusing on architectural and entertainment lightingcontrols. We have also seen successes in the building controls market, with thesystems division winning 3 large contracts with a division of Interiors ServiceGroup plc, as previously announced. "The nanotechnology business continues to focus on generating awareness of thehigh quality results created by the company's leading edge laser atom probe.Customer interest remains high, however the timing of sales of atom probesremains difficult to predict. "Polaron provides a unique combination of two technology businesses - one in amature market and one in an emerging one. The first image shows the presence of only 11 atomsof Boron in a Silicon sample size of 20nmx20nmx5nm. The relative quantities ofBoron to Silicon atoms were approximately 100 in a million. The second image isa logarithmic mass spectrum showing the relative quantities of different Siliconions in a sample. Original atom probes were not able to examine high resistivitymaterials (ie poor conductors of electricity). In addition, the imagedemonstrates the laser atom probe's mass resolution which is the ability todifferentiate between ion types of similar atomic mass.
