CHANGES TO ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND NEW DIRECTOR OF INVESTOR RELATIONS

Max Petroleum, an oil and gas exploration and development company focused on Kazakhstan, is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Moss as a member of Max Petroleum's Advisory Committee and the appointment of Tom Randell as Director of Investor Relations.

Peter will replace James J. Emme on the Group's Advisory Committee who has resigned to focus on his other business commitments. Peter has relinquished his previous responsibilities as Vice President Corporate Development and Investor Relations and is taking up a position as a director on the board of NYSE-listed Evergreen Energy Inc., a Denver based company specialising in coal upgrading technology.

James A. Jeffs, Executive Co-Chairman, commented:
