10 August 2010 INTERSERVE AWARDED GOVERNMENT FACILITIES MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT

Interserve, the international services, maintenance and building group, has been awarded a place on Buying Solutions' second generation facilities management (FM) framework agreement. Buying Solutions is the national procurement partner for UK public services.

Interserve is one of eight companies selected. The framework will run for four years - although contracts let within it may run for up to seven years. It provides procurement professionals, including those in central government departments and their agencies, non-departmental public bodies, NHS bodies and local authorities, with a selection of pre-qualified suppliers covering a full range of facilities management services.

These cover managed services (such as environmental, health and safety and space management), `hard' FM (for example, fabric maintenance, mechanical and electrical maintenance, fire detection and security systems, lift systems and building management systems) and `soft' FM (such as reception, security, cleaning, waste management and mail services). Services can be purchased through the framework as Total Facilities Management (TFM) contracts, as bundled services or as single services.

Adrian Ringrose, Interserve Chief Executive, said, "The Facilities Management Framework has the potential to streamline FM procurement for a wide range of government bodies, and in today's economic environment the savings available through robust outsourcing could be significant. Our selection highlights the recognition of Interserve as a flexible partner with long experience in delivering major efficiencies on behalf of the public sector."
