Independent News & Media PLC31 July 2007 Independent News & Media ("The Company") (Ticker INWS.I; INWS.L) TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS In conformity with Regulation 20 of the Transparency (Directive 2004/109/EC),the Company announces that as of 31 July, 2007: The Company's issued share capital consists of 752,515,520 Ordinary Shares ofnominal value €0.30 each with voting rights. The Company holds 24,293,899Ordinary Shares in treasury, which do not carry voting rights. Therefore, thetotal number of voting rights in the Company is 752,515,520. The above figure may be used by shareholders as a denominator for thecalculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify theirinterest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under theTransparency (Directive 2004/109/EC) Regulations 2007 and the InterimTransparency Rules of the Financial Regulator.
