Main Reef Package Intersection

Central Rand Gold Ltd ("CRG" or "the Company"), the South African gold mining and exploration holding company announces that as of August 26, 2009, the Company has intersected the Main Reef Package on the old 4 Level workings (approximately 60m vertical metres below surface)  within the Slot 8 area of the Consolidated Main Reef tenement. This was achieved with a  minus 1:7 grade decline having progressed over some 300 metres from the Portal entrance. The Decline will continue to be developed opening accesses to more Main Reef intersections, with levels planned at approximately 11 vertical metres apart. 

Commenting on the intersection, Chief Executive Officer, Johan du Toit stated, 

"Reaching the reef intersection with the decline is an important achievement for the Company as the much anticipated underground trial mining can now begin."
