Banks work on trust, most of the people with money are aged 50+ and don’t use or trust a wholly internet based app. Have a look at metros presentation at the rights issue and you will see what kind of cash each branch generates. After 5 years each branch generates £8m+ of contribution after costs. Metros whole business model focuses on creating low cost deposits. Even when you compare to the retail space ASOS has a net margin of 1% compare that to primark which has a 12% margin. The internet might be the future but in the present it does not always make money.

Monzo and revolut will not make a profit for a very long time. Branch based banks are the only ones which can turn a profit, even tiny ones like Mtro.

Pearls, to go grow they will need funding. Nothing wrong with that. Remember when they get approval to use AIRB their capital requirements will drop and will be more capital efficient. Roll on 2021

Compared to what this company has gone through this is a great set of results. However, expect th media to pick up on any weakness in the numbers and negativly spin, after all the media are in the shorters pockets. I expect this to fall tomorrow, but rise overall until the next quarter, since the business is clearly on the mend.

Agree no one will touch with a barge pole due to SFO. Question is how low will this drop and how much cash will it generate going forward? At 23*p I think it is still too expensive. I would personally bite at ~180p due to too much uncertainty. Plus Serious Fraud (I know they paid bribes) and money printer do not go hand in hand.

HH this could easy drop 20-25% tomorrow. Not sure a potential 6-7% is worth it from a risk adjusted returns perspective. With MTRO shares a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush literally in terms of cash conservation.

The engines transmission and electrics are all made by mercedes. I did wonder why they were not 100% owned by them, seems daft to be independent. Imagine the cost savings if they were fully owned by MB, they must be salivating at these low prices.

The bankers should be sued. clowns! expect this to be brought out by Mercedes if it keeps on going lower. This company has no business being an independant outfit when most of it is already provided by Mercedes and they own a 5% stake.

Benny I agree with you, the media seem to be extremely negative on metro. This is clearly unwarranted, though I expect management to turn around the business in the medium term. Even atom bank is struggling, so you can’t really blame management for poor results.
