You have to remember, out of all of the challengers only Metro has major problems in issuing these loans. VMUK do OK in issuing them, albeit at a slightly higher rate than the big 5. Why would the BOE bend the rules for Metro? The next bond issue will cost them a 20% coupon based on the current YTM of the bonds. The more I look at this the more I think the market just does not like MTRO's model even though the loan book is conservative and hence the credit card rates of interest.
