US have already done that in Venezuela in a virtual sense. All operations in country are now governed by US law. You cannot really produce the stuff in volume unless you have been granted a General License by US Office of Foreign Assets Control. Oil can no longer be exported to certain countries like China. The monies a foreign oil producer receive for a cargo can be paid directly to their account but any taxes and royalties due to VEN.gov or payments to your local NOC PDVSA mandatory partner must be deposited in a US.gov controlled Foreign Government Deposit Funds (FGDF) account in Qatar. And from VEN.gov side well they have to submit a weekly or monthly budget to US Gov to recover their cash from that US account in Qatar. Imagine if US did the same thing in IRAN.

Have no idea if the SP is going to recover, or not. What I do feel is current management are doing a pretty good, or even very good job under these extreme circumstances. I mean Richard inherited a complete sh*t* show from Rahul. Thrown in the deep end out of his comfort zone he's done well. Reset the drilling plan - just get back to basics - main field - produce new oil asap - we need revenue. That seems to be working so far. The production guidance - it is now looking conservative. We could be at 75K at next well start up and if they can keep that flat over the remainder of the year with more wells thats basically high end of guidance. 4D + OBN further helps with future well placement which should lessen risk of a dud.

Ghana.gov - Another sh*te show. But it appears that the relationship could be getting better? Quite a lot of stuff has been agreed with gas payment mechanisms, license extensions etc. It just needs to be translated into cash receipts. Maybe GH are waiting for court case outcomes? But weren't there some comments on the call about "advanced talks" with the GRA to (i assume) maybe resolve these tax issues? Does that suggest a pre-judgement voluntary settlement between the two parties? Possibly with the gas receivables partly thrown into the settlement somehow? Dunno? but it sort of sounded encouraging.

Anyway basically I do feel "the Team" are doing everything they can do to make the situation as good as they can given the sh*t* hand of cards they are holding.

Some of the assumptions in the previous are a little well farcical. Suggest DYOR. For example OP the $67 is post hedging whereas the $72 probably isn't. The 2025 free cash was after Gabon $300m proceeds etc. But clearly $72 Brent is $7 better a bbl than guidance and a tanker has just departed Jubilee so that's an extra $6m for that cargo.

I thought the new CEO came over very well. He was actually quite modest. I used to have a holding in BG before they were taken out by Shell. Mr Perks was in charge of 3 of BG's largest growth projects over time. Hasdrubal a large gas development in Tunisia. Atlantic LNG a large LNG facility in Trinidad and Tobago. Then a massive innovative coal seam gas to LNG development in Queensland Aus. Also had a holding in Anadarko before they got taken out by OXY. Mr Perks was the head of APC's giant LNG development in Mozambique which was eventually taken on by Total Energies. The guy has a very good history.
