It was just a small one for £5m

Technik - missing the point on 2 gene vs 1 gene - 2 genes were developed back when genome sequencing was in its infancy. With 2 genes with each new sequence of the virus you run the risk of redundancy in your tests. Each new sequence makes a risk that the test will start reporting incorrect data (false negatives), the more assays (2 or 3 gene) compounds this risk and therefore its imperative to have 100% surveillance in check.
Infor25 - yes that's what they are saying. NCYT covid assay works works with better specificity with saliva. This will filter out to the testing labs and will soon be the way samples are collected.
infor25 - "Further to completing its own validation " on top of the independent study carried out by the Liverpool School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, means they have completed this work. (or further complemented this study with their own validation). In a nutshell they are saying saliva has been tested independently and also by NCYT - i.e its ready to go.
Germany - one of NCYT's biggest clients is also gearing up for mandatory airport testing
https://corporatedispatch.com/german-lawmakers-urge-mandatory-airport-tests/
NOZ - its already pipped - saliva is not available as a sample type as it already works with their existing CV test. Its basically available now.
"Further to completing its own validation of the saliva sampling type, Novacyt confirms this sample type can be used with its COVID-19 test."
Stan - I'd compare mcap of NCYT and AVCT. If you think NCYT has got no room to improve when its done over £100m+ in rev so far and can only get to 200m mcap, imagine what will happen to AVCT if they get an initial order for £10m sales, hell even £30m sales on their mcap...Oops mind the drop.
Stan - it won't need a trained technician. Its plug and play. A quick training session for airport staff would all that would be required. Its not designed for pubs - its for mass testing and unlike AVCT its available now. The tender deadline has passed, did AVCT manage to get something in there , do they have something ready for market. Might have to wait for the next gov tender in 6 months time at the rate they're progressing, and it better be 95%+ plus sens/spec or its as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
Coca - see this from Collinson group
https://www.collinsongroup.com/en-eur/insights/heathrow-ready-to-become-first-uk-airport-to-offer-medical-covid-19-testing
"The pilot of the new testing procedure would be available as a private service to anyone with a flight landing in Heathrow Terminal 2. Passengers will need to set up an account and book their test online, before beginning their journey to the UK"
Now not saying the Gov won't get involved and make it free (wouldn't be surprised) but at the moment its a private sector initiative to pay to avoid quarantine.
And for Stan - "The tests, which use the gold standard of virus detection, RT-PCR testing, are sensitive enough to detect COVID-19 particles, even when a passenger has displayed no symptom"
Stan - did you not read the RNS - mobile testing removes all bottlenecks - no lab needed. No mixing just add the saliva/test to pre-formulated tubes, whizz through Q16/Q32 unit, results out, done. Completely negates all bottlenecks in labs. Keep up old boy.
Stan, oh Stan - stop it. UK airport testing is already in the bag for NCYT - watch closely the news with Collinson group to come soon. Sports/mines already are using NCYT mobile saliva test. A huge Gov tender is also coming NCYT's way, and huge orders from abroad. NCYT NPT (mobile) testing has 99% specificity and sensitivity. What NCYT are doing is going after the lions share of the market, others will be fighting over smaller (though still significant slices). NCYT have proven that they can adapt quick to any needs the Gov or private sectors want with great efficient tests. NCYT mobile test can do 30 tests per hour with hugely accurate results. Its winner winner chicken dinner.
Allah - think of this, why is a test being tried with 2000 patients. Because they know its bloody good, I haven't heard of GDR, AVCT being trialled yet, they are still being lab tested . Not trusted or complete enough for large scale trials. NCYT's is out in the real world, why, because the reputation that has been built with NHS/GOV and NCYT. Don't think for a moment that GOV/NHS aren't feeding back to NCYT of what they need, and so NCYT have gone out and delivered what they have asked for. That is it. It is simple, it is literally in the bag. There mobile test is at the moment can deliver large test numbers, remotely, not invasively, at very quick times.
On top of the £5 billion tender, we know that plans are for the UK to have airport PCR testing by September. Collinson group have already hinted that is was NCYT's test they hope to implement. This is using our standard PCR test - I imagine once they get wind of the new mobile PCR test they will opt for this. No sending off results to the lab, make airport testing quicker and less intrusive. Win win. This will be a private contract - not government. Now not everyone will get tested I imagine it will be rolled out initially to those inbound from "at risk" countries and the passenger can pay for the test to avoid quarantine. But if effective it will be rolled out to more passengers. This again would be a huge win for NCYT - we should hopefully here about this too in the coming weeks.
