This is a true sign of a stock market that has failed... But should be also a good opportunity ahead of (hopefully) some dividend reinvestment. If the BoD doesn't instigate some substantial share buyback at this level then they are part of the game that is driving the price down. No other rational explanation! Even the expected Labour government is pretty neutral or better to a mostly high street business...

JonnyGee - totally agree! I worked in the City for almost 40 years in Asset Management and still like value investing. Card looks like a very oversold business with pretty good income prospects over the next few years and - as you say - seems well placed to be the place that various family members buy 'celebration' items. Maybe Celebration Factory will be a better name in a few years!

It's quite amusing how all the trading results, growth plans, omni-channel stuff gets talked down when there's a run like this. And of course it's all happened before. There are plenty of cards, balloons, parties, birthdays, celebrations and need for tat presents.

Agreed. He got them at a nice price as well... Just reinvested some of my dividend ahead of time. At 96.4p it's got to be a fair punt.

Looks like a big buy came in a little while ago, but sp is depressed. I wouldn't be surprised if the BoD want the price down nice and low before they get their shares. Good time to 'early' reinvest divs before they're paid imho. Just bought a few more...

Lots of manipulation and games over last few months of good news. At anything under £1 this share is great value based on expected returns going forward but might drop a lot today. If it does I will 'reinvest my divs early' as the sp may well bounce a bit as others do the same in a month. At some point there will be a share buyback, or a special div, or good news about supplying a further chain, or interest from a PE company or whatever. I will await that time! Good luck...

Agreed. Posted something similar a week or so again. In the annual report they do say approximately what proportion of annual div the interim will be. I think it was approx 25% so think your 1.5-2p is spot on. They also talk about share buybacks to cancel dilution caused by management / staff share schemes and special dividend payments where there is excess cash.

If you sell on the ex div date you will NOT receive the dividend. That's why the price goes down. In the old days (like 40 years ago) you could sometimes trade 'special cum div' with the dividend just after ex div date but settlements and brokers were completely different then. Who's writing this junk? Sorry, but if you don't know, keep quiet!

Daily pattern is almost laughable now. Trying to soften us all up to sell frantically when price hits 105p. Up to you if you fall for it!

Huge sell or 425,000 (Algo) along with lots of others but SP has held up quite well... Clearly buyers out there...

Someone has been making tea another effort to drive the price down and spook private investors. The fundamentals couldn't be better - I won't be falling for it!

Adding to that, the CFO suggests interim dividend will normally be about 25% of previous FY total dividend. So perhaps 1.2p this year (I still expect 1.5p) and that extra distributions will be made as excess cash allows (special div or buybacks as decided by the Board).

All in all, dividends should start to get close to 7p per share by FY27 or greater.
