There are sellers of course but what's happened today makes little sense. I can only assume someone is thinking about making a bid. And trying to get us all to accept a silly low offer... Paranoia of course, but I am deeply sceptical about the UK market now. It doesn't work, simple as that.

As Day traders take profits but can't stop the rise. This should be £1.10 with a few days. And should climb slowly from there. Any macro improvements would help too!

100% agreed. It's the early statement about pbt increase next year that is the most compelling for a major increase in sp.

De-rampers oddly silent. I expect they're waiting for the sp to hit the 80s. If it does I'm borrowing money to buy more shares!

The early statement of substantial (say 6-8%) growth in profit for FY26 is also a real positive move by the BoD. Their best statement for some time. Hard to read negativity other than the slightly disappointing online...

Merger with MoonPig in some form almost makes sense... Would lift both companies' sp.

As good as could be expected. Still hitting FY25 targets. Online a tad disappointing but otherwise all good and even stated they can offset cost inflation confidently. If this isn't a sp rise it's time to leave FTSE.

Since none of us know, but will find out in little more than 12 hours, speculation is pretty daft. Good luck to all long investors!

Agreed. Although we await the update... Current sp is faintly ridiculous given the shape of the business as far as we long holders can tell. But the 'market' is simply weird and corrupted by too many non-investors. So we will need to see. The dividend and growth will be the carrots to drive this forward so let's hope for the best. Current state of UK and pretty terrible government isn't helping of course.

The whole UK market is pretty heavily depressed and retail shares are not doing well. A good dividend is only cure. But that won't be mentioned tomorrow anyway. Longish game this one sadly.

But it didn't block overseas investment. The trouble is that given the UK economy wealth and investment managers in the UK now invest a far higher proportion of assets in UK Government bonds and especially US equities. I do take your point about regulation but you aren't going to make UK businesses attractive without a properly functioning secondary stock market, and you won't get that without money being invested in it... The only other solution is selling out at discounted prices to overseas investors which is what currently happens thanks to hedge funds and private equity. Broken it is...

I rather liked the proposed UK ISA that fizzled as the Tories crashed and burned... Might help. Liquidity is becoming a bit problem for UK equities imho as the ever increasing amount of money in Gilts rockets up. Need to attract overseas investors...
