RE: Good Morning Guys/Gals15 Aug 2020 15:02
Hi @C7,
Re my ""IMO this government are as shady and self serving as they come."" - I was referring to past UK governments.
I agree, talking about politics on here is proabably not a good idea, apologies, but for what it's worth, I'm neither a red or a blue politically speaking, in fact I'm almost apolictical, so much so I could not bring myself to vote in december, but that doesn't stop me noticing the blatant cronyism, self serving vile behaviour by this current incumbent.
Would Corbyn/Abbot done a better job, we'll never know, Abbot is a walking disaster I agree but at least with Corbyn there seemed(?) to be some sembelence of decency, and (hopefully) not the pure unadulterated selfishness we are seeing. I don't think taxpayers money would have wasted on very (very) dodgy PPE contracts. IMO it almost feels like Conservative MP's are use the pandemic to benefit themsleves even more than they would do in normal times.
Anyway, tell me if the following doesn't show greed, contempt, self serving and frankly illegal behaviour:

"...More details of the PPE fiasco that left hundreds of doctors and nurses dead are starting to emerge.
Whilst our EU partners were putting together emergency procurement arrangements in late January, it wasn’t until March that the Government set up an emergency scheme to protect our doctors, nurses, and care workers.
By then the Government was having to play catch up – ditching the normal rules that secure good value for public money and which guard against corruption. The Government spent a staggering £5.5bn on PPE contracts. Shockingly, three of the biggest beneficiaries were companies specialising in pest control, a confectionery wholesaler, and an opaque family fund owned through a tax haven."
Anyway the point I'm making is that the funding for Nottingham/Scancell?bristol merely higlighted to me some funny goings on, the corruption that seems to going on here. Hence why keep harping on about the lack of funds seen by other vaccine developers in the UK, despite them throwing litterally 100's of millions willy nilly at dodgy and fake PPE contracts. Does that sound legit to you?
Nothing but snouts in the trough IMO. If anyone thinks this goverment is looking out for the people and not themselves is deluded...IMO. Rant over. And Apologies again.
