So Scancell, in terms of its size, and Redmile's investment in it seems to be a complete anomaly for them then!? They must clearly see some potential.

@rw, yes you're right, deliberately vague about the details of the first collaboration biotech, So yes, they could likely be the "global biotech".

Also, "advanced talks" would tie in time wise with the first collaboration too.

A "global biotech" doesn't necessarily tie in with any of the three mentioned. Whilst it still could be one of the three, the description seems to have changed, why would that be?

Perhaps the American company is the global biotech, but Scancell did not want to say that at the time?

Bermuda (I think?) was hinting that this could also perhaps an undisclosed fourth collaboration? If it is the case this global biotech is not one of the three. But I suppose that would have had to have been rns'd?

IMO wouldn't be surprised if he cancels again/indefinitely.

The point I was making was Nottigham/Scancell/Bristol could have easliy got some starter funds, seeing as the goverment had set a precendent of throwing/stealing tax payers money with dodgy PPE contracts and paying billions for other vaccines. What's a cheeky piffling million of tax payers money in that context? Anyway rant over...and apologies.
P.s. IMO we should all be fuming at the PPE scandal.

I agree, talking about politics on here is proabably not a good idea, apologies, but for what it's worth, I'm neither a red or a blue politically speaking, in fact I'm almost apolictical, so much so I could not bring myself to vote in december, but that doesn't stop me noticing the blatant cronyism, self serving vile behaviour by this current incumbent.

Would Corbyn/Abbot done a better job, we'll never know, Abbot is a walking disaster I agree but at least with Corbyn there seemed(?) to be some sembelence of decency, and (hopefully) not the pure unadulterated selfishness we are seeing. I don't think taxpayers money would have wasted on very (very) dodgy PPE contracts. IMO it almost feels like Conservative MP's are use the pandemic to benefit themsleves even more than they would do in normal times.

Does that sound legit to you?

After watching that recent documentary on C4 I had a much greater appreciation as to why the government went so fully behind the Oxford approach, i.e. they were primed & ready to go so to speak, so I stand corrected "to a certain degree"...however my issue is and always has been how money is and was being thrown about left right and centre, for example the 100's of millions of very dodgy PPE deals, literally billions on Oxford/imperial and stocking up of other vaccines e.g. - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53772650

And yet the likes of Nottingham/Scancell and Bristol don't seem to have been given anything (as of yet), not even a £500k grant for expoloratry research? UK institutions who may have suitable alternative candidates.

What happened to the urgency? What happened to the urgency of covering all angles?
"On the surface" neither of these two factors seem to have been addressed...all IMO.

Obviously we don't know exactly what's happennig in the background i.e. with UKRI and the application of grants, but my point agin is if they were were serious about "urgently" finding alternatives to Oxford/imperial etc, then grants to the likes of Notts/Bristol would have been given immediately IMO, and no questions asked...just like Oxford did,
