RE: Redmile17 Oct 2020 10:48
Great posts @Violindog and @RatcliffeWriter, that is the question, what has changed for Redmile to pretty suddenly invest more? @rw, I think you make some great points.
"...but IMO to put two increasingly large fundings into Scancell in a short space of time makes me think it could portend something very significant in the shorter term as well as the longer term" I agree with you on this.
Also, a very simplistic and ill- informed question on my part (so apologies in advance), but could it be as simple as someone wanting to buy the whole shebang and Redmile simply saying they want to have a bigger slice of the pie prior to any deal?
We know some of the recent deals have been huge for similar types of companies:
https://www.gilead.com/news-and-press/press-room/press-releases/2020/9/gilead-sciences-to-acquire-immunomedics
https://www.immunomedics.com/our-science/pipeline
We know that a global pharma is testing out one of the Scancell mabs products, who's to say they've now decided they want everything Scancell has to offer? Everything has a price after all.
Also no mention of (now cash rich) BionTech in yesterdays RNS, but i'm sure they and Scancell in still in cahoots in one way or another, surely?
@violindog, RE redmile and Covidity, wasn't Covidity announced in April, and Redmile's first investment in July? You'd think there would have fully aware of Covidity before finalising/signing off their first investment internally? Hence why I think this recent new investment has been caused by a sudden new outside "input".
All IMO.
