In my experience there is nothing wrong with a sales or return strategy when a company first approaches an outlet to sell its product, because it achieves several things....
Its a great way to disarm a business owner, it takes away all the risk to the outlet , and they get to try a new product with no risk. Therefore, you get much easier ride into outlets and quicker.
If the product sells well, the shop owner will be happy to change pervious agreement and make it a purchase order / delivery / invoice as normal, as they know it will sell.
If the product does not sell. The shop get's the product collected, and Zoe move on to next customer - there is no advantage in having stock lying around on shop shelves , when it will never sell - to either Zoe or the shop.
Sale or return is probably the best deal a shop will get, especially for the first few months....especially with those customers who lack confidence, are unsure, etc etc
