Just for fun I took our earnings for H1 and doubled them and then applied your 16.94 p/e suggestion for the sector
It came out as 3.75p - remarkably close to where we are.
Obviously earnings are going to be substantially above that for H2 but using your sector p/e ratio, the market hasn't factored that in.
Or looking it another way, the market has factored it in, but won't apply the sector p/e ratio to CASP yet because it doesn't trust it.
Adding in my estimate for profit in H2 and using your sector p/e I get an sp of 7.5p
Of course when output and profitability is expected to rise subtantially over the next year, a much higher p/e ratio would be appropriate.
Hence my forecast of 10p for Xmas ( I expect I will get the timing wrong again, but the forecast is bang on)

Did you mean revenue vs Mcap CC? That would be about $50m to $114m

I think the tax evidence from Adrianz suggests 153 is flowing well and I agree with CC that they don't have to tell us yet and may be saving it up for a monster RNS towards the end of the month. They have said they will update us quarterly unless there is something they have to report on under RNS rules. I understand your scepticism KK given past experience, but this time I think things are coming good.

I am also holding not trading at present so whichever is right will not affect what I do. There are strong enough reasons to hold either way.

Hi Adrianz, there are sometimes pieces of information that are available to some posters and not others for reasons of language or expertise. That is partly what the board is about, pooling information, analysis and attitudes to investing.

Rest assured that I do all the research I am able to do, but I am happy to add to that information from bona fide posters such as yourself. Sometimes I am able to bring together information from other posters to make new suggestions that would not otherwise be available e.g. information about tax reveneue increases and and tax rates graduated by output as in my recent post, neither of which I was previously aware of.

The board works best if we pool our information and analyses. There is now on this board a very good collection of contributors who together can create a better picture of what is going on at CASP than they could individually. The untrustworthy posters have for the moment completely disappeared.

Thanks for the links Adrianz but it sounds as though we will have to rely on you for the tax info. The tax is graduated by output I believe so the increase in tax paid might be partly due to going through a tax threshold

The gas price peaked on October 5th since which time it has dropped 43%. By contrast over the same time period Brent has gone up slightly by about $1

There is no doubt a link between the two markets, but I think it is quite tenuous at present. I am unsure at present as to whether there is a slightly retrace in oil before another surge, or whether we really have topped out as appears to be the case in the gas market. Time will tell.

The issue is not how much oil could be found but how much oil should be used. COP26 is unlikely to be a major success given the parlous state of current world politics and the incompetence of the government hosting it, but nevertheless the Climate Change agenda will grow stronger over the coming decade.

We will be transitioning away from fossil fuels over the next three decades, the only question being the speed at which this can be accomplished, either because of the speed of innovation or political will.

It is not the amount of oil that CASP has which is at issue, it is the speed with which it can develop it. Given the limited capital resources available, it seems to me that the best outcome for shareholders will be to attract the involvement of an Oil Major which will have these capital resources. Deep success is what will make this happen. Shallow revenue could assist with this. A dividend next year might make the institutions take us seriously but pouring the money into properly financed attempts on the deeps would be my preferred option

The mantra on this board used to be patience. Now its becoming impatience - myself included. There are so many irons in the fire and such a lot of possibility on multiple fronts that we are impatient to get just a little news on at least one of them

The news will come soon. At least some of it is highly likely to be good. A re-rate seems inevitable. We just need to remember how to be patient..

I don't see an even keel for Brent in the 80s, DM. It's just pausing for a little breather before climbing into the 90s

And with Brent having a little think about $87 today then 5p can't be too far away.

The point of the programmme was about greenwashing, not the transition to greener technologies. There was a little about the latter but that wasn't very good.

The rise in gas prices has been proportionately so much greater than it has for oil that it gives oil some polittical protection.
