In response to US complaints about the deployment of their troops in Kazakhstan, the Russians have reiterated that it is under the CSTO agreement and will be temporary. Meanwhile Tokayev has siad that he will not negotiate with bandits and criminals. There remains a possibility that the Russians will withdraw and the unrest may return. Tokayev is still a trainee autocrat and the Kazakhs have genuine and long held grievances.
I am holding (when do I do anything else) but there remains a possibility that this is not over yet. I remain optimistic because oil is central to the Kazakh economy and any regime has to recognise that. In addition the amount of potential good news from CASP this spring, or earlier, remains enormous.
One last message to FF about yesterday's disgraceful behaviour. The worst thing you did was to patronise me. I may be quite old but I still respond very badly to that kind of thing! I also have a long memory and recall the last time you abruptly changed your tune. A shame really, I was beginning to think you had become a reformed character, and you do have useful insight into both the industry and the share market which could be helpful to newer investors, but now unfortunately can't be trusted. It will be the responsibility of the older hands on this board to point that out to newcomers.
