RE: Sell and buy in lower?28 Apr 2020 19:41
It is a really touch question to answer. There are arguments on both sides. I have been a holder since this was last £2.50 and only sold some in the 6s. This is a bit of a Covid treatment hedge. There are a lot of variables and unknowns - for example, the airports, shops, security, etc will ALL need to have a decent plan for this to work in the short term as right now hardly anyone is flying. Even if you can persuade people to get back onboard, it will probably be because you have had to offer a really great price to entice them. There will have to be changes on-board too, which will come at a cost. In order to fund these issues it’s likely more routes will be cut and jobs lost. I like BA and in spite of what a lot of others report, have always enjoyed their service. My recent dealings with them over the last couple of weeks have been without fault, even with everything going on. So. In short I believe there are more challenging times still to come, but I both believe and want BA to come through this. I know it’s not the same, but the CEO of Southwest was interviewed on CNBC today and he was quite realistic about the challenges the industry has got to face in to in the months ahead (and they are dropping £35m a day right now). Sorry for the waffle but good luck with whatever you decide. I intend to hold and may well add....at some point, but not yet.
