Luckily I reduced my position but still a big knock. Hence bar some exceptions staying in FTSE250 with main holdings going forward.

Hi ITD,

If you are averaging in that’s smart as this is an income stock and will trade in a bandwidth. You have to accept that albeit the chart is a slow up and down rise.

If you look at the divi calendar you may find best price after xd. It’s not guaranteed but sometimes more than the divi comes off the price.

Whilst I wouldn’t be sure enough here to sell and buy back around the xd like many other stocks, If buying I would look to add a couple days after the divi.

ARB tried to grow too quickly. They leveraged in a very highly volatile market and we’re the wrong side of BTC, Energy, inflation and interest rate vix.

They were my best ever investment having bought at an average of 4.3p. It was fun watching the pf going up and down often several 100% in a day! Yep of course I sold. Averaged out over time unfortunately selling most too early but that’s how it goes. Hold and hug though seldom pays off especially for smallcap shares.

Some posters have stuck with them up and back down. Unbelievable really! Kings clothing and all that. You gotta change your mind if the data changes in this game.

I keep telling myself I should be in all cash! I just figure though if that is the case it won’t make any difference anyway! Yikes!

For sure energy costs are affecting all not just uk mann.

Australia also has prolific offshore gas and oil fields.

I do get annoyed at how the press report it though especially digging out the old ‘radiator picture’ and trying to convince readers a windfall tax will solve all the problems.

Just look at the chart. Did the press go on the same in 2000, 2005 and 2008? No so what’s changed and what can they really do that will make a difference.

It’s probably as much to do with incomes lagging than another normal spike in energy cost cycles.

I have posted before that our government having wasted trillions on QE much of which went to financing company share buy backs should have used the cash to build a sovereign wealth fund so the tax payer gets income from energy that can be used to reduce bills throughout the cycle.

As part of the licensing rounds they should have offtake agreements for natural resources. The producer sells to the UK or Oz for that matter first based on a profit margin for the resource over a long term not market unit price. They then get to sell surplus at market rates.

Look at how a little company like DEC hedges it’s income or TXP for their gas find. It’s the same principle.

Meanwhile whilst each government one after the other psses about with short term electioneering the food bank will be even busier and there will be more pics of people huddled to radiators!

Worse still is the press can even talk down an economy or a nations health when if they stepped back from their celebrity me now culture they could actually have a much more positive influence!

Gcat buys in 7’s. News expected soon. I hold, but posted before it’s a great trading opportunity to sell into news or hold for growth as sp at lows. You can often buy sell 5m there as liquidity is good for small cap.

Vod over 100 now hoping to flip some more in at under 100 if it goes there again else may recycle at 110.

Trying to disciple myself to just buy high yield now as some really well covered divi stocks on offer.

Also when the markets lift it’s the bigger stocks that go up. Bar a few exceptions smallcap world is remaining ‘cheap’.

E.g I got Lgen at 208 with +10% covered yield! They’ve now gone up and yet some of the riskier plays even with good news at best have stayed flat! It’s also much easier to trade and recycle higher caps even allowing for tax.

I notice on my watch list here that many stocks that don’t even get posts now. Some had busy BB’s! That’s as good an indicator as any esp as winter is usually the bullish season.

Bar a few exceptions FTSE250 for me for now and only if they pay a ‘safe’ divi. I have been so far lucky with the risky stuff but not getting very far atm so have flipped loads. Can always look back in when things improve

I know where you are coming from Ace but you can’t have both with this business model and without the hedging and swaps you won’t get such a great ABS deal as they closed today.

This is pretty much a self financing package where the assets underwrites the loan paid for by revenues which amortises ahead of life of asset linked to ESG emission reduction targets and at a mere 7.5% coupon. Furthermore the risk is shared with ConocoPhillips. This package has swaps at $5.09.

I have no idea how these guys land such amazing deals but the point is that this is a cyclical business and you can only land such deals if you can forward forecast revenues with some degree of accuracy. That requires hedging to illustrate repayments can be made anywhere on the ‘curve’ which furthermore demonstrates future divi cover for investors.

There are other opportunities out there for unhedged gas producers and for sure they have had a great run but that’s not DEC’s income model.

And how much CAPEX does VOD & BT need compared to Twitter how about IR. What are the growth opportunities across each. Regulation for sure a constraint.

However, although I don’t like much about his behaviours he is no fool and is visionary.

But for sure imo too many tweets make a twt! Esp when you accuse people of being a paedo when they refuse your ‘yellow submarine!’

As for VOD, in the absence of material news it will likely follow the TA. Lovely! In at 98 and bit, ready to sell some on the bounce and recycle. And of course have some to average down as well.

This reminds me of when GSK dipped to 13 and also 12 before that. Such oversold indicators for the ‘trading vultures!’

It’s not often you get an opportunity trade a stock with such great liquidity that you don’t mind holding if you get it wrong and you have a juicy well covered divi to cover your arse!

As they ado have a buyback in place I think there will only be a small increase in divi for Q3 & Q4 o 4.5c giving 17.5c for the 2022/3 year as it’s in their DNA to max shareholder returns. Anything else really will be a bonus!

I will be interested to find out if there has been any impact from the European LNG saturation on DEC’s outlook. We will still be selling to the US but obviously prices are down since the summer. Now are ‘you’ glad we have hedging in place!

SMS was a similar play in in 680’s rode to 747 guess it’s a boeing stock! Yikes!

VOD looking interesting. I posted before trading opportunities to buy sub 100 with a view of selling near 110. That’s like getting all the yield 7.6% in one hit. There will always be opportunities to recycle for nibbles. I may have time for one last top up before selling.

Importantly though for trading. Always ensure there is liquidity and never buy a stock you don’t want to be stuck with. I think VOD could be such a play especially as it may prove defensive on down days.
