Regardless, GLA.
Agree with the sentiment of being frustrated.
At 85p I need a 13% raise to just break even.
As the SP seems to drop a percentage point most days and then after a modest rise falls back on itself I'm very doubtful that even when the new 'freedom' day arrives, this is not going to jump by 11p.
So it's a waiting game, sell and reinvest funds elsewhere and swallow the loss. Or hold with hope and belief. I'll hold for a couple more months to see if even small daily gains can be held.
I'm a huge fan of Cine, but this is an investment of my hard earned cash, currently it could be working harder elsewhere, but that's life.
Good luck all.
@Bonkers
'I have thought about changing my exit point numerous times'
It's always pertinent to review your portfolio as things unfold.
Likewise, I do the same across all my investments.
Here, I'm happy to tuck away my CINE stock and wait for 110.
Thankfully I do not need the money invested here elsewhere and when we hit 110, the profit will be used to treat the long suffering fam and some luxury assorted biscuits.
Good luck to you too, I always enjoy your posts and wish you God speed to your own exit SP.
@Bonkers
'but also the key to getting the S.P you want to exit at.'
Of all the thoughts posted here of late, the guff, the hope, the ramp and derampers dreams, this single sentence is by far the most relevant.
I think when many people invest they do not pre plan an exit. Your also spot on when you mention buying the shares is the easy bit. But I do wonder how many guys n gals here also thought about what target price they would sell their holding?
For complete transparency, here's where I am.
I joined the siren song of Cine at £1. Indeed I posted as much here at the time. I did due diligence before I parted with my hard earned money. I understand the fundamentals of the company, its debt levels and it's % of shorts bet against it. This was AFTER the SP had peaked around 120.
My investment is such that an exit at, say, 110 would be significant. And that was my benchmark. Not 120 or 150.
Subsequently the SP has declined, I've averaged down to 96 and the SP has tantalisingly nudged that price three times over the last month.
Personally, I'm not willing (though am able) to average down anymore here. My dry powder will be used elsewhere to further diversify my portfolio.
My point is this, watching the hourly or daily stutters of the SP will send you mad.
Re visit your thoughts when you initially jumped in, are you currently comfortably on the shore, treading or under water? Forgive the metaphor but once you get a grip on your 'here's where I am' and where you want to be you can take your emotions out of your investment.
The SP is where it is. Neither you nor I can do anything about it.
Am I happy with my investment? Yes.
Am I happy with the current SP? No
Is my original exit target the same? Yes.
Could my wedge here been better rewarded elsewhere? Yes. But that's hindsight.
On a final note, of all the BBs I read and occasionally post on, this is by far the most fun.
Good luck to one and all.
Biscuit anyone?
Dagger, me ole mate. How great to hear from you.
Great news your getting back on to the streets. It's been a long time coming and the best of luck to you. Yours would be the first cab I'd hail should I venture down to the big smoke. Followed by a pint.
I've always kept tabs on CEY since your first heads up many moons ago.
I simply cannot believe a single crappy share report by an obscure rating agency plunged the SP. I know and understand all the guff about the mines, bit still.
My punt on VOD is currently underwater so there ya go, none of us ever always call it right.
All the best and good luck all.
@Fairy
Despite posting here or trying to allay peeps fears or still believing in IAG, others post doomsday future scenarios etc.
I get it. But IAG will recover.
On another note, the tractors, combines and fam are fine.
In a single down day this board has gone from 'big-blues-blog-of-bull' ( no disrespect to you, but since you lost your sense of humour, blimey your hard to read ) to complete meltdown scenarios of travelgeddon.
Just to put into perspective some nonsense claims by a cross section of posters -
Huge job loses in July. Er, furlough continues thru Sept.
IAG requiring another fund raise. Er, IAG is more than the sum of its parts. Portugal going to Amber is not going to break the company. IAG shares climbed without Portugal on any list and with limited long haul. Grow up.
170 to sub £1 possible. Er, in your dreams. The first would mean huge company structural change, the latter bankruptcy.
With around liquidity of 8 billion still in the bank and a deferred pension payment holiday, not this year.
Some of us, many who don't post anymore (but read this board) have been here many many times before pre and post the pandemic.
I may currently be 'out' of IAG, looking for a new entry but I solidly believe in the business.
If, as an invested poster you actually believe any of the spurious posts (often ended with lololol) then here is what I'd do in your shoes.
Cut your losses and sell on tomorrow's opening bell. Ditch all your travel stocks and stamp your feet. It's all those other idiots.
Whilst I do not find most of fugs posts either helpful nor respectful he did raise a point which was valid. If you hold a diversified portfolio (my point, not his) have you not been rinsed and cleaned before? I have.
One final point, IAG has always been the comeback kid, as sunsurfer once said, the gift that keeps on giving.
If I believed this company was dead because of a crap day I wouldn't be looking to get back in.
And get back I will.
I really feel for holders who recently bought above 205. I know it's hard reading others looking for fresh lower entry points. But that's the market.
Good luck all, keep the faith and to quote Robby -
Stay lucky.
@Robby
There's your 5% drop. Your initial thoughts were bang on.
Still sitting on my hands............
As many of us regulars here stated on Tuesday, we sold out most if not all our holdings (my self included) waiting for a lower entry point which I thought and posted would be this week.
Thing is, do I leap back in now ( if it goes sub £2 then I'd be very tempted ) or wait until tomorrow?
Personally I don't see the US going green until the next review , not today's.
Dry powder ready either way.
Good luck all
I sold out at 204 last week with a nice profit.
Keeping a sharp eye still. As Robby points out, many are just waiting for a lower entry price. Possibly this week.
If not, happy to sit on my powder for a while.
GLA
A-ha, well big-blue I may have to trade that short lived smug hat for a dunces cap.
My IAG and CINE are up but my VOD investment needs a de-fib.
Hope your EZJ punt, instead of being here comes good too.
It's all swings and roundabouts.
GLA
Good morning Robby.
Well my friend, I said Friday that this week you'd see IAG at 197 first (yesterday)
BP at 317 second (this morning)
Now just good luck needed on your RR shares.
Really pleased for you!!
GLA
'All her preaching has put her into debt.'
Wait, big- blue is a GIRL?!?!
Asked in the incredulous way Carl does when he realises Kevin is a girl in UP.
@Fug
'Cash operating costs for the quarter reduced to €175 million per week'
Direct quote from the latest results RNS.
Simply divide by 7.
Oi oi Robby boy.
It's been frustrating for many I think. Now, as you know I never do sp predictions but I'll give you my pennies worth on your post and thoughts.
Interestingly on the RR BB there are a few posts relating that over the last month you could have bought at a quid and within 5 to 7 rolling days sold at 107 then repeated. At least 3 times.
IAG has breached 197 twice this week.
BP has been above 317 this week too.
Moving into next week I believe you'll get -
IAG in the 7s first.
BP second.
RR last.
But as I always point out, what do I know. Either way, I wish you and your investments well.
GLA
@mararab
I feel that your not quite ready for poker just yet.
Let's take your plucky predicted 5% drop on IAG, RR and JET2 with some fag packet maths. Let's approximate current SP on all three and what you'd need for your 5%.
IAG 193 your expecting a 9.6p drop.
RR. 102 your expecting a 5p drop.
JET 1,350 your expecting a 67p drop.
Is your prediction for today? Or is it one of those loooooong forecasts that if hit, say, in a month or three you can say 'I told you so?'
I fear with that 'poker face' you will be holding your chips looking for a spot at the table for quite a while.
But the best of luck to you and everyone as we are all here trying to make money.
Morning all.
It did occur to me during the day how fortuitous it was for BA to be buying shares for their staff reward scheme on a day the SP was at such a low price.
Similarly, VOD had an unexpected boost as it also chose yesterday to start a share buy back scheme and was able to purchase shares under 126. A price not seen in three months.
I'm aware ofcourse that ALL shares tumbled yesterday across the board and the reasons why.
Let's hope we get some traction North today.
GLA
Yup, that pesky stamp duty does grate.
All good here thanks. I've been moving around my investments today.
Still holding IAG a hefty chunk of CINE (may also receive a bounce tomorrow as the majority of its UK cinemas open...... But CINE is like a teenager, hard to read and rarely does as it should.
I bought some SGC on its fall and sold them all today with a nice 10% profit in my pocket which I then sunk into VOD (The share, not the beverage) which had a hefty drop on its results. In there at 130 and if it follows BT on its result day, should be a good bet within a month plus bag it's divi, a rare thing these days.
But then, what do I know. Just bumbling along with fingers crossed like everyone else.
Good luck all tomorrow, could be a very interesting today.
@Robby
How you doing? I did exactly the same on hopes of £2+ tomorrow. Great minds...... Hopefully.
@F1
Thanks, think we are all in shades of red today buddy.
I am well as are the long suffering fam, soggy sarnies aside.
I trust your well too and here's hoping for a better day tomorrow for everyone.
