Quady are you being deliberately obtuse? You’ve basically started your last post by correcting me, and proceeded to restate what I said. If they pay 28p or less, all good. If they have to pay 30p, they have come back with a higher offer.to all. If they pay all shareholders 28p, but have agreed to pay Barclays 30p, illegal. It’s not rocket science, and it’s written as clear as day in the takeover code. In fact, general principle No. 1 pretty much covers it without having to read all the sub paragraphs and rules.

Never suggested anything illegal was going on. When you wrote “in order to sell to Jiangxi at an agreed price in the future “ I was merely clarifying that the agreed price cannot be above 28p, without offering that higher price to all shareholders. Failure to do so would be illegal.

Incidentally, that is why (obvs) the SP won’t reach or break 28p in the absence of a further interested party. Samson and Barclays will sweep up as many shares as they can sub 28p, but not at or above that.

Quady, it is the case. Any predefined limit cannot be above the 28p, unless also paid to all shareholders. Now I’m not naive enough to believe Jiangxi may try to act unscrupulously, but Samson and Barclays would not run the risk of he potentially significant fines they would face, in order to make what, to them, is a fairly trivial profit.

Quady/Smickster, this may well be the case here, but if Jiangxi pay, or have agreed to pay Barclays and/or Samson more than 28p for these, in order to get the deal over the line, they have to pay all shareholders the same, higher amount.

40% return on a 14 year investment. It’s a giveaway. Not happy at all.

I think the OPs point, given the subject title used, was that 31p is now the lowest price they can come back with, giving the rules within the takeover code. Doesn’t matter if they subsequently sold them. They can still do one at that price though.

If I was BHP, instead of counter bidding, I’d offer them 30p a share for their stake. Grab a bigger slice, and at the same time lower my average!

By the way, to answer fjw999, don’t think that’s plausible, as we would have seen one or more TR1’s as they built the stake to 30% or above.

Cannot for the life of me work out why they would make such a ridiculous offer. They knew it would never get close to getting through. For a start, they’re asking BHP to crystallise an 80% loss on their investment!

I don’t particularly want to be that guy, but just a word of caution here. As I’ve mentioned, I’ve been holding here since 2011, and have seen this sort of welcome price action on at least four separate occasions. Each time we all… myself included… believed that this was it, at long last Solgold was about to realise its potential. Each and every time the price dropped all the way back again. I fully recognise that we are much further down the road than on previous occasions, and have cleared a good many obstacles to get to where we are today. Personally, I do NOT believe that this is yet another false dawn. That said, long and bitter experience has shown me that it might be. In summary, if you are recently invested here, or thinking about jumping in, in order to make a quick profit, you might be disappointed. Patience will still be needed. By this time next year, this could be anything from 5p to £2.00. It’s always been that type of investment. Me, I’m holding until the endgame, whatever and whenever that is. Unless you’re prepared for that, and it could still be years away, steer clear. If you are thinking long term, dive in. Huge potential value remains in the ground, and the SP is still a long, long way short of reflecting that.

I know…. We have 3 bagged in 4 months on very little news. I’ve gone from 66% down to 10% up in that time. Not a spectacular return for a 14 year investment, but welcome nonetheless. Imagine what might happen if we got some real news!

Yep, 20p proving very tough nut to crack. No prizes for guessing my average. Yes, 20.1p. So close to break even after 14 long years……..

Fair point Smickster….. it’s certainly preferable to climate change, electric cars, and immigration as a topic of conversation on a exploration company chat forum!

If people could continue posting precious metal prices on here every 2 minutes that’d be great thanks, I for one find it very informative, and not at all tedious.

Beginning to think I might break even here soon! Very positive signs for a while now.
