ohh definitely aimed at Kallak:
to Minister of Enterprise Ibrahim Baylan (S)
The EU's leading mining and mineral nation! This has been the case for a long time, and it has been a clear political objective to preserve that position and develop the industry that has helped build Sweden. But now we see signs that Sweden is falling behind in the polls. The Canadian think tank Fraser Institute now ranks both Ireland and Finland over Sweden.
There is no reason to hide under the chair that mines affect the local environment, but one must be able to have two thoughts in your head at the same time and conclude that minerals are needed for the climate change change.
Metals such as iron, copper and silver are needed to produce modern technologies such as solar cells and catalytic converters for cars. We know that the minerals are found in Sweden's bedrock, and we know that they are needed, but at the same time everything is being done to counteract the mining industry. Infinitely long processing times and complicated permit ting processes kill projects that play an important role in the transition.
In view of this, I would like to ask Minister for Economic Affairs Ibrahim Baylan:
Does the Minister share the view that innovation-critical metals are needed for the climate change transition, and if yes, what measures does the Minister think should be taken to bring about a process that is sustainable for the mining industry in Sweden?
