RE: TSX ITE2 Mar 2022 19:04
I think first thing you need to look at is how much i3e has risen in the last month. I posted some numbers a few days ago but here there are again : WTI = +21%, Kelt = +6%, Tamarack Valley = + 4%, I3E = 55% !!!
So I still think we are cheap but its quite clear that i3e has gained ground on many of its Canadian Peers and also substantially outperformed WTI. Some of that out performance is no doubt due to Serenity - i3e were quite clear that a deal was close and so some value has been added by the market for Serenity.
Also need to look at the deal - I think retaining 75% and only having to cough up UKP 8m (50%) is a very favorable risk reward for the potential prize if you have confidence in i3e's field evaluation (personally I do) - if the well fails - the downside is minimal bearing in mind i3e's projected year end cash but if it succeeds and again based on Managements comments, this potentially doubles or triples revenues or is worth hundreds of millions of dollars if i3e decides to cash out. I think what the Canadian Market might be questioning is if the confidence in the field is that high - why have i3e only got UKP 7m for a 25% interest with oil over $100 / bbl. If this was 6 months ago - the terms would be above many peoples expectations but now with Oil at over $100, why were i3e not able to get more ??
I also don't think it matters that the farm-in partner is a minnow - I think the important thing is it gets the project moving (as other have said here) and caps i3e's exposure to 7-8m. i3e said they are still talking with other parties and I am still expecting Repsol (or some other larger player) to farm in at some point and provide more certainty over development funding.
So I'm a little bit surprised that the TSX is not up a little more but not totally surprised - when has i3e's SP ever reacted as expected and some of the numbers thrown out on this board were overly optimistic imo. I still think that value will be recognized over time - lets see how we open tomorrow. If I was to put money on it I would say a few pence up, not to much more but would not be surprised if it reacted like the tsx or even if it shot up more than the few pence I expect. I'm more confident that in a couple of months from now the SP should be significantly higher than it is today subject to oil prices being supportive.
Anyway - gla and congratulations to LTH's - its been a bit of a ride but we are now reaping the fruits. Well done to MAjid and Graham - they told us this would happen 18 months ago - there were just less believers back then.
