Hi jac.. It has always been accepted Worldwide, esp US, that Smart Comms was being volume installed but as shareholders we are primarily looking at India. So onwards from your 2019 article what has been achieved by them, very little I should think. A bit like CC, but no CC has 1m units in flow. There has only been 3m odd units all told if I remember. The other question is what RF frequency are they working on and is it license adding to cost.. Are you sure Wirepas is IPv6 6LowPAN and IS6444 as required.
These are all obstacles CC had to surmount. Finally do they do the full monty HES> RF>Gateway>Meter Comms all in house themselves.

Once they have this preferred list will they renew it, once a year may be,
you probably need it to be able to tender and tender takes a year to progress.
Would they be interested.

Colour that sounds like CC or is it Anil's old company who he was CEO for a few months and then came back to CC.
CC did well to develop Cellular because that means they can literally do all the Smart Comms for all the meter cos plus IoT, nothing left to cover and could well be the new standard.. If this is the case not bad for, as you say, an unwanted RF company.
You have to think adventurously, that's not in your book unfortunately.

Once again Colour, cannot resist. It is not likely but just suppose that at present others could not match these new stringent rules what happens next. Lower the standard, not likely, hold up Smart not likely. If INDORE has already met the Standard where do you think GoI got the idea from, if they know it can be met then that is what they want. If CC appears all clear on this requirement, unless you know otherwise, who else will meet it. Time will tell. I don't know if all can apply or just those with existing tenders for the 37m units.

Yes jac but we have not got to March, he is not going to stick his neck out but I bet there is a lot of confidence around..
Anyway these are my thoughts, just think if may be only one or two pass this tough requirement then the field must be opened up to them. Meter Manufacturers want to sell and Utilities want them installed. The market will look at what is available.
There is big money to be made for the winners.

Well S.Chari appears to know the direction that CC is going and feel not just playing a Blinder.
Although we have this extended wait of a few weeks to March this new goal post is going to show who is available in the market for both meters and Comms. If they do not meet the requirement then not considered.
As CC can cover all aspects of Smart Comms my feeling is they will get up to 50% of the market, mainly due to proof of concept in INDORE acknowledge by GoI.

I think you are loosing it. You worry about petty little things but do not get excited about the possibilities that March will bring.

Have you not heard of "motherboards". My son recently replaced my one and upgraded it.
Coming back to Intellismart, as you know a fair amount about their meters I take it you know the efficiency rating of their Comms, so do they meet the new March requirements. I will give you an easier one, why do you think Intellismart suddenly engaged with CC and why do you think EESL joined with CC for African sales and why do you think Anil rejoined CC so soon after becoming the new CEO of his brilliant company. He must be mad??, I think not.

Colour, don't twist comments, SMETS1 was still installed after they did not work as required.
Likewise there is nothing to stop Intellismart continuing installs and then exchanging the faulty platform with CC's.
Upgrades are done all the time.
jac.. Colour refers to niche but INDORE is not niche and possibly the mix of RF and Cellular now done by CC is considered more successful. Regarding company size don't forget big companies have to make big profits and up to yet those contracts have not been there.
We will probably learn more after March.

Well Colour lets go in reverse order, clearly Intellismart have not got own Comms and now GoI is setting the Comms bar higher, they are not satisfied otherwise thy would not be halting all tenders until they have check situation. Even you can see that, they are not happy. Intellismart/EESL called in CC to assist, they did not do that for nothing, especially after you said CC were not needed. Do not pick just the negative bits. Trust me to mention UK, your get out of jail free card. CC will finish off UK at the end as JC said. This was supply only and by that time India will be doing well.
Once again UK got us IPv6 from Connode, in my opinion without that no CC, simple.

Thanks Colour.. I assume you got the information from on the ground. I think Hardman said last May that CC were assisting Intellismart with a problem so I assume it was Comms not meter. I wound think therefore they would continue installing meters as with SMETS1 and correct them later. From the ground what can you find out.

Just thinking of MEA, Thailand. Their CC Pilot was due to finish 4Q21. Customer base approx 4m and possibly interest from PEA, Thailand 20m+. If I remember CC won Thailand contract because they outshone all competition.
With the Indian March tests, although primarily for Meter Manufacturers CC will no doubt come to the fore as Comms creates smart.
With the Indian standard set high CC will take some beating especially as they now do all forms of Comms and of course price comes into it.

Hello jak/Colour, with Colour I was referring to which companies had passed their Comms MOT not tenders in March but Hardman did say it would speed this process up. The lowdown was who else could do this Smart Comms element, we all know CC can so who else, surely Colour would know. I would have thought the due diligence would have already been done.
I have spoken to CC who tend to think it is aimed at encouraging meter manufacturers not Comms companies, so the more competition the better.

Hello all, we could hear within the next 5 - 8 weeks. GoI has set the standards very high, plus must be in India. If CC is so well known we would surely know the opposition companies, I am still surmising one, two or none.
Intellismart has got caught by rubbish vendors. There is now a determination to push. Notice we were not aware of this March quality check until Hardman, thought Colour would have got the lowdown.

Hi jake, yes that is what March is about but it does not mean that they will find somebody to meet this high standard of Comms.
HES and digital meters are pretty standard and competitive but not Comms and Comms is Smart.
US big companies big costs so big profits needed, CC small company does not need billions in profits.

Also I seem to remember India had already banned China meter components last year.
March should let us know who is around, I suspect only one or two at most to meet new Comms requirement.

Well Colour I think last May Hardman went overboard with their valuation and did not want to get caught out again.
However all that is going on at present would suggest your figure could be closer and may be when these 30m+ units allocated.
For instance the Committee that is meeting in March will test to this new standard, if CC is not the only qualify then possibly only one or two more, leaving the field open until others arrive, if they do. CC may not be named as such but following Government approval of INDORE I would not be surprised if CC Comms is treated as the India Standard, India is looking for certainty.

I interpret 'unaware' as 'none' but safeguarding themselves.
If you knew otherwise you would now be shouting it from the rooftops.
With all that Hardman reports is going on March should some month.
