anglo american and anto***asta shares rally after upgrades

anglo american and anto***asta were rallying friday in a european stock market playing catch-up to wall street, as the two miners were upgraded to buy at ubs.

anglo american shares surged 7% as ubs lifted its rating to buy from neutral while keeping its price target unchanged. “we believe the risk/ reward is now attractive with anglo to benefit from improving copper prices in 2024/25, resilient iron ore & met-coal prices, as well as recovering pgm & rough diamond prices,” said analysts led by myles allsop.

Lots happening here in parallel both within our portfolio and on the M&A front, HBR is clearly looking very proactive, so not unrealistic to expect few major updates here in the coming weeks/months, all while trading volumes remain unusually low.

If DOCS is to have any real chance here, company now visibly needs new management/fresh blood at the helm as current strategy (Geography, Product, Pricing, Marketing, Competition Displacement......etc.) is clearly NOT working IMHO.

- The drilling of Layaran, the first of a multi-well Andaman Sea (Indonesia) exploration campaign, is ongoing. This follows the Timpan-1 gas discovery in 2022. Three additional prospects on the Andaman South and Andaman II licenses will be drilled as part of this campaign.

- Zama (Mexico) commercial agreements progressed with preparation for FEED underway

- Kan (Mexico) appraisal plan submitted to the regulator following the oil discovery in April with drilling scheduled for 2024

§ Continued progress on Harbour's CCS projects. For the Harbour-led Viking project, this includes entering FEED and the successful submission of the Development Consent Order for the onshore pipeline, marking important milestones for the project.

New ULVR Chairman to start on 1 Dec, hopefully along with the recently appointed CEO, we may start to see some green shoots here from next year.

Carlos Slim will not be satisfied with a 4% stake here, he'll likely want representation on the HBR Board (and for Zama).

This update today is a Key development for HBR and likely a gamechanger (probably not by accident), Carlos Slim has identified a grand bargain which will also benefit HBR shareholders, as I've said before, HBR has serious Multibagger potential. BTW, UK Gas prices are still rising nicely today!

I also tend to agree with brokestocker but still like to keep a little faith that maybe, just maybe, a so called "Conservative Government" would at least not remain so foolish here at such a critical juncture, although no trust in Sunak/Hunt duo. Now on HBR specific as mentioned earlier, Harbour Energy is undeniably very cheap at the moment and is the only solid FTSE O&G company with truly Multibagger potential (and with no debt), massive upside possibilities along with very little downside risks today IMO.

It all depends on the new Unilever team and of course status of the global consumer!

Anglo American unveils digital metal traceability solution

The solution is currently being offered for ferronickel, copper concentrates and iron ore mined products.

Anglo American has introduced a digital traceability solution, Valutrax, to help track metals and minerals from mine to customer.

Valutrax provides one access point to core product information, enabling greater assurance for customers about the provenance of the purchased products.

Built on blockchain technology, the solution allows for secure storage of information in a digital format.

This offers customers a “comprehensive, immutable” view of core information about their product through a user-friendly portal, stated the company.

For each delivery, participating customers are allowed to download a digital label, providing a view of key data such as provenance, carbon emissions intensity, safety and the social impact of Anglo American’s operations.

The label also provides the policies’ overview that supports the miner’s approach to sustainable and safe operations.

ULVR needs fresh blood, Alan Jope's tenure did nothing for the share price, new CEO now probably needs a year or more and if he fails to make major constructive impacts here then it'll be downhill for while, time will tell.
