RE: Off Topic, but is it ?17 Aug 2022 10:24
morning bignose.very interesting post. yes fum has been picking up over last few days,no doubt in expectation of positive FDA trial headline results at beginning of sept (and also i expect some momentum investing. )i now have only a very modest holding in fum, as i was fortunate (for once!)to be able to take fairly significant profits on the big spike and also a bit through trading ,since, for me, fum is at a very binary moment (not completley binary ,as it does of course already have ce mark authorisation and 4 licensing deals) in that if it gets fda approval it should do very well, but it if doesn't not so good. i imagine even with the deals already in place, if it fails the fda trial, which is essentially to see if the efficacy is maintained over 6 months as opposed to the 3 months for the eu trial ,then that will, imo, have a very negative effect and make marketing in eu etc very difficult(hard to advertise its benefits if it fails a trial). i had a very(very!)bad experience in mtfb which was completely binary and failed its p111 and i don't want to repeat that.
the disparity between fum and erp's values is interesting.erp is suffering imo because despite having approval in eu and now OTC, it hasn't been able to sell very much because of the supply difficulties and investors simply don't know if it is going gain market traction and may be waiting to see actual sales data.in a sense fum is in the same position as nothing has been actually put on the market as yet,so no data there either. both are now otc in europe, so if fum does get fda approval and is actually sold in europe it may give a good indication of how fortacin may fare once it can be supplied etc in eu etc.
you make a very pertinent point about funs core investor, lombard, which clearly has faith in the product.if erp gets fda approval eventually i would like to think IIs would be interested, but i wonder how much appetite they would have for a mellon company.the bod in fum have very few shares which may make it more appealing to IIs' although not sure why. i hope they do and completely agree that the real key here is FDA approval.i am much more confident of fortacin getting fda approval eventually than i am of FUM getting it, as we have never really had any negative trial data for fortacin, whereas i can see it is perfectly possible for med 3000 not to demonstrate the same effects over an extended period, so im not 100% confident fum will get it, hence the reduced position.
i also think that china is going be very significant for ERP,but like fda it is some way off.hoping for some news on progress re fda in interims.
sorry if this is a bit rambling.
