morning bignose. very much my thoughts also re the $17m. i assume there must have been something to back up the figure to demonstrate its validity to the auditors before inclusion in the cash flow calculation. im not an accountant but i imagine the auditors of a publicly quoted company would require something to back up the figure, as the going concern basis is pretty fundamental to the accounts. could be wrong of course and it's odd that it is not repeated in the recent ones, but as i suggested that may be because they didn't want to draw attention to it this close to a deal, hence the short term loan. just speculation of course, but if correct then 2023 may turn out to be the pivotal year.

morning dougie.sorry can't help out with any analogous situations i'm afraid.anything is possible i suppose,but i agree that the existing licences (and also the DLI aspect) probably militate against any form of takeover. my best guess is that the plan now is to go for a US deal on the back of p111 trial approval (i.e. the start of the trial,not the ultimate formal approval),quite possibly in the form of an option or conditional on formal approval, as i think they are now in dire need of immediate funding.i doubt that a placing is possible at this low s/p and with the obvious lack of market interest (all the tame acolytes have probably left the tent after the previous debacles).once the p111 protocol has been fully agreed potential licensees will be better able to assess cost and likelihood of approval and thus more prepared to finance some initial commitment. if this is correct (and let's face it my record of accurate predictions here is not exactly encouraging) the terms will probably be disappointing to lths, but we may just have to accept that that is as good as we are going to get.hoping im completely wrong and that we get a pleasant surprise by the end of the year.

agree with that 81.i have always taken encouragement from LO's very significant involvement.they held through the 60/70 p spike and the inference i draw is that they are looking for something far more significant in the future.just my opinion of course.

morning muscle head.i also lived through it and lost quite significant amounts in several companies.sorry you feel my post was nonsense.i was making a generalisation about many of the companies jumping on the isp bandwagon without any real revenue.it was a generalisation and there will doubtless have been companies with different profiles which also failed.i simply don't see any real analogy with the dotcom boom per se and THG, but i accept that you do.

we seem to be getting more and more days of no, or virtually no trades, so obviously complete market indifference to the company and product i'm afraid.just have to wait for next news at end of september/beginning of october hopefully.

personally and with respect, i don't see any analogies with the dotcom era.i could name a large number of dotcom companies which had explosive s/ps and which collapsed when the bubble burst with most of them going bust.they all had one thing in common.they didnt have any revenue.many jumped on the "internet service provider " bandwagon (think of the covid boomers ,most of which have fallen back considerably,although not necessarily to the point of extinction).i really don't think you can validly compare THG, with its significant revenues, to the opportunistic startups (or should that be upstarts ) of the dotcom era. i do of course,have absolutely no idea how this will play out,but i doubt it will end in complete oblivion.

well that may be true fuzzbox,but with respect, it is,as you say, a generalised comment with no more relevance to fum that to almost all the other aim stocks.speaking purely personally,i have made very significant sums in FUM and although my current holding is modest,i do expect to make further reasonable sums over time.

morning bignose.very interesting post,thanks.$17m as a payment to secure an option on pre NDA approval certainly makes more sense and if thy really are thinking of getting it in 2022 then it presumably couldn't contain elements relating to formal FDA approval or sales? personally after all that has gone on i would be relieved at the sort of initial sum(bearing in mind the disappointing china figures,(different markets and china shouldered approval costs etc,but still underwhelming).but mustn't get ahead of ourselves. as you say none of this indicates any certainty or actual figures. however its good to be given dr mike's perspective on it.

yes fum did well on the trial.as i mentioned I've only retained a very modest holding as i was concerned the effects might dissipate over the longer trial period,but it appears the opposite happened! doh! oh well i may increase again if it falls back in the interim, as an upward trajectory with little regulatory risk does seem very likely.

dougie,what sort of deal is certainly the question imo.i agree that the latest wording seems to carry the suggestion that something reasonably concrete is in prospect,but no certainty.any deal negotiated with the s/p where it is probably won't give us LTHs the exit point we want im afraid.still fingers crossed that we get some good news.

afternoon bucolic.hope you are well.certainly sensible to take some profits.my current holding is quite small as I've taken profits over time.whilst i was fairly confident that the fda trial result would be good,i have been on the wrong side of a fairly binary situation before and didn't want to be over exposed.anyway very good news today for those intending to hold,as i shall.whilst nothing is ever certain,i do think the fda approval is pretty much assured,so its going to be down to the terms of us deal and in particular the identity of the licensee.time as always will tell.hope you enjoy your holiday and thanks for reminding me of Odi.i see it didn't take booth too long to recover his composure and return to the fray with his usual repetitive nonsense over on ADVFN.some things never change!
