Why not use the capital for a new project? Same with dividends actually. Total returns are better

Buy backs, imo, show how weak the investment case is. It shows that management have no new ideas to deploy capital. And they have little faith in the current assets.

A short term bump in SP is likely. The market cap can stay the same but SP rise accordingly, which is good.

But it’s a concern management can’t create more value.
