BigAl, yes I think most countries have their own approval processes but the trials would be small and quick to compare performance.

Roche bought iQuum in 2014 for $450m, GDR similar in some ways although the iQuum box was a lab bench not as portable. GDR also have assays so without COVID they are similar. COVID just pays for the acquisition! In many ways iQuum and GDR are similar so the cost comparison is interesting.

Hi BigAl, yes I wondered just that earlier, saves time and costs if they knew it was coming through anyway. Speculation of course.

What I've seen with this share is that it certainly can get trading volume which pushes the share high quickly. I tend to agree the expectation won't match reality. How different they are will determine if the price goes up or down. I'm hedging my bets here and sold 25% to cover a drop in share price so I can buy back in if it does drop. If it goes up then I'll sacrifice 25% of the growth. I don't know any other way to adapt to the eb and flow of shareholder sentiment...

Grim, yes I had also thought that BC might simply buy the assay part with some deal on sales but is more unlikely as the price differential may be relative insignificant - just buy the business. Timing would in large respect depend on BC's view of the market demand. Say they see a demand in the US of 50m+ tests - that's $500m turnover. Making a bid for GDR of say $300m is effectively paid for from the trading profit for the test in the US alone. Would shareholders turn down a £200m offer. Not a chance. Strange times these.

Danaher now make the beads for us via Cytiva and will incorporate them on one of their high throughput platforms through Beckman. Depending on the numbers it makes sense to take the profit from the middle too through a Genedrive acquisition. I these strange times it could be that a purchase is paid for from short term sales leaving the Genedrive POC as a free pickup - again it seems to fit anther Danaher company Cepheid. Hmmmm???

Unfortunately Wolves I think you are correct, this will languish with thin trading volume. However, it will easily bounce back when volume comes back. As I have done in the past, I have sold a proportion in oder to buy back in if the price continues to fall. So far though it's held at £4.50-£5.00

I think for IQAI to get a return on their investment plus a royalty would be a really good position. I think anything north of £500k as the purchase price plus the ongoing royalty; for shareholders it derisks around any need for further funding. IQAI have been really good at not going over board with their funding rounds. All credit to them. A lot of value in the future products here and at £7m the business is a bargain.

Agree Grim, they are lining up lots of ducks, the current share price also helps as an agreed offer would be attractive over current market cap. It's all speculation of course but a trade sale will always be the end game and there are points of opportunity - this is one!

BigAl, agreed. It is all now in the hands of those approvals bodies. It can only be a matter of time. My guess is US will come first. I wonder with India if the regulators are simply waiting for the US FDA approval to come through? WHO should be here in a matter of days now I would have thought.

US sales will see a significant rise here, India too.

I've been a holder for a few years now. My worry is if the deal doesn't seem 'short term exciting'. It's tricky to predict here. Long term there are many exciting value adding products.

A great deal of news in the pipeline, critical to all this are the approvals, they will come. Once we have these expect toes more collaborations and sales for the SARS products. We should expect an update the POC system too in the coming weeks I would expect. One hell of an RNS on the way!!

It worries me that the government have been swayed into backing completely unproven technology, I'm not sure how. Bottom line is that we are well funded and continue forward. We will bring our products to market and time will show them to be invaluable. If the government back devices don't work then Genedrive can pick up the pieces. Until then there are plenty of markets that will want our products. The tie up with Beckman will certainly take our 96-product capacity for some time when that comes on line, time to shine!

Been trying to research the Biomek i7 and how many are installations there are. Difficult to get information other than the Beckman platform is a widely deployed system and they seem to have 10-15% of the market.

Of note, "molecular diagnostics remain a top-line focus for the company, which seeks to be among the first with a “sample-to-result” molecular diagnostics system for the hospital market." So the collaboration with Genedrive seems to hit a very specific strategy for the business and conforms that Beckman will be the likely 'system seller' in this collaboration i.e. it's not a 'you recommend us and we recommend you' type of collaboration.

Interesting times here, when FDA comes we will here more of the commercial arrangements and this must reflect in the market cap.

Foxy, its going to be interesting to see. This product would give a business commercial advantage but does limit sales to IQAI if its an exclusive arrangement which it sounds like it is otherwise you wouldn't enter an LOI, simply not necessary if there's no exclusivity. What does it mean financially? if it means the manufacturer can sell more units because of a novel piece of software thats worth more than of its simply an 'add-on'. Really difficult to tell.

I am sort of surprised there's now an LOI as these discussions are not new. It's why I am favouring a more strategic acquisition of the business.
