dream, what better covid plays are there?

Mags, It was when I originally invested back in 2016, not a covid to be seen.... Diagnostics has been a poor sector for many years, COVID has just shown people how important it is. A POC play in this market is very well placed, one that has already been proven with other markets even better. What sales multiple does the current MC support? Once we have sales it will be easier to value.

Not sure we do, the value today is what shareholders are prepared to pay, with no sales and no forecasts its a bet that sales will force the share price up... how much is built in todays price is anyones guess, but the fall in share price suggests most is now priced out.

It's semantics, as soon as sales come in we are expecting this to rise not stay still

I tend to agree Radley, sales are not priced in, in fact the gradual fall in SP is testament to that. With sales, GDRs share price is a multiple of todays price, the partners GDR have chosen should be able to generate significant test volume. Exciting times.

This from the BinaxNow article...

"Abbott evaluated its test in 102 patients who had shown COVID-19 symptoms for less than 7 days, and compared the results with a RT-PCR assay. This analysis showed that BinaxNOW has a sensitivity (true positive rate) of 97.1% and a specificity (true negative rate) of 98.5%. The test’s accuracy declined in patients with symptoms that had persisted for more than a week, and the FDA says that negative results in these people should be confirmed with RT-PCR."

So the FDA has said a negative test has to be followed up with an RT-PCR test to confirm.... That's a major indication that they are not confident that the test is sensitive enough, particularly since most tests for a 'test and release strategy' would be negative!

The whole diagnostics industry is a little skewed. Abbott have invested tens of millions and bought several companies in order to scale up their Binax test and get it out. Even Abbot's latest claims are based on trial data of 102 samples, woeful and not sure how you can make your claims like that, their first product had similar claims and they had to back track. The whole industry is being bizarrely free with their claims regardless of size or reputation. GDR will have a place, it will sell product and it will support its non-covid products, some of which are making £m's in revenue already (US-DOD biothreat). I continue to be a LTH here. Great product, responsible BOD, some carp PIs.

LP, you are misquoting me, I did not make those references to Abbots BinaxNOWTM COVID-19 Ag Card test, I made an assertion that a new entrant into the diagnostics market doesn't know the production issues that are ahead of them, making a robust product is key and creating that rigor within a business is difficult. I am unsure why you are quoting me along the lines you are.

Knock, thank you, agree with everything you say, we will sell, how much is yet to be seen, but bottom line is we are more than COVID which has paid the bills (placing) and put us in a good position with our non COVID products. Long term, time will tell

agree U, they'll be a small window they can delay the RNS which it looks like they are doing. Last years was early October, I think they only have a week or so before they are bound to release their EOY statement.

GDR is not a B2C business unlike others like NCYT. They are a B2B and their strategy is to partner in high volume markets outside of the UK. This depends on approvals for both India and US. They now have SA and will start selling there now and we should have the update shortly, most likely in the year end results.

They have developed a POC solution which is undergoing final trials and should have its approvals early next year. I suspect they'll beat most of the smoke and mirror companies out there, but the market is large and different POC solutions are required for different parts of the market.

Some may disagree with this strategy which is absolutely their right. What's not their right is to be derogatory about the competence of people trying to make a difference. If only there were more people in this world prepared to try rather than complain from behind their firewall.
