Hi BB,it was a decent account of the results ,and the business model, could'nt find link. However I simply put in Daily mail, went to business and put JLP into query bracket. Not available rest of today, but if you can't get in let me know, and will try to give further input. Tony
Hi Rivaldo. My son moved to Portugal [an hour outside Lisbon],last august. CV has been terrible there since the second wave went thro'. When people moan about govt. restriction here , my son was under curfew from 1pm each day,so what SDI have achieved whil'st working under that situation,is truly remarkable. One idea that crosses my mind, is in light of all the 'red tape' incurred since brexit, does having an EU location, for a major part of the business help with european sales ? cheers stay safe Tony
Katia you are incorrect to state'They only test positive when symptoms are displayed. It doesn’t make sense at all'. If you refer back to my communication when my staff nurse daughter caught covid, almost certainly from her occupation due to her lifestyle. You will see her innova test ,supplied by her employer, failed the day before, and on the day she went down with covid. ONLY the hospitals PCR testing regime[the day after she went sick], showed she was positive.
My point then and now is they should'nt be used for hospital, or anything to do with carehome staff or visitors. I could'nt believe Han**** the other morning banging on about how wonderful they were, even when the BBC correspondent questioned ' the facts' !!!!
I see someone was on about a person catching covid after vaccination, I can confirm this,as one of my daughters staff pals had the vaccination, and went down with covid 2 days afterwards. This is QUITE to be expected,as the companies don't claim immunity for 21 days at least.
It is therefore worth mentioning to EVERYONE,especially at this fraught moment in time, CONTINUE with your isolation for at least 21 days after vaccination. I am quite worried some folks will let their hair down the day after vaccination, simply with the relief of thinking they are safe . Cheers to all stay safe and well Tony
Latest figs. on stokopoedia suggest for 2021- 28% growth 8.09 % divi. Much is dependant on you view on gold price, but they do have 4% Cu production, and i think there is a much firmer +tive view on Cu. cheers stay safe Tony
Is GM ahead of the field in producing avian flu tests?
I have been producing rare bred ducks and geese for nearly 40 years, hence my special interest. I believe this flu has been travelling to UK ,during dec to feb.with migrating european birds, particularly from eastern europe, for many years . This H5N1 ,a particularly nasty, strain, was brought to our attention 2016 /17,when Fergus Walsh [the BBC newsman]went overboard about the danger of it transmitting to humans.. Of course that is exactly what has happened with a bat virus,if the Chinese are correct. Hence my comment is GM ahead of the field ?
Long covid has been seen on the BBC news a couple of times lately . It was reported that the NHS had set up 20 units to look into it. This last week they showed and reported the affects on several known cases, one of them very severe,to a fairly young doctor, struggling to walk 200 yds. I have close knowledge of three people ,and so far nothing in the way of a cure is forthcoming. The BBC suggested 1 in 10 might have this symptom, post recovery. The reason for reporting this , is my staff nurse daughter who had a nasty dose of covid 19 for 11/12 days, reported in to the hospital, day 6/7 that she was no better ,and the hospital advised taking low dose asparin, hopefully to offset long covid
I pass on this info. with the warning to consult your pharmacist before administering, but in the hope it may prevent some poor souls from having to live with long covid. Cheers stay safe Tony
Just a couple of comments. Firstly i am pleased to inform you my staff nurse daughter turned the corner yesterday. Cough persists ,but temp gone . Seems the nurse returning to work condition ,is two clear temperature days, and she can return, even though the cough persists.[subject to the 14 days rule]
On this mornings news a spokesman stated the mass school tests were to be of the LFT type[a very high figure of tests acquired was mentioned].
Regards to the journalist comment about await vaccine forget testing :- We only have one approved vaccine arriving in dribs and drabs ,it has been reported the Moderna vaccine wont be here till Easter . Oxford looks like being approved for the 2 full doses ,only proven 70% immunisation ,using this dosage, and they think forget testing. Have they not looked at the Welsh situation where hospitals ,are very close to saturation,at this moment, let alone any extra in the aftermath of Xmas gatherings.
To me ACCURATE testing has to be here for the forseeable future, although hopefully towards the end of 2021 all the most vulnerable ,and a large part of the greater population will be immune.
However due to the recent arrival of this new disease I believe testing will form part of the worlds stratedgy in the future. Again a more difficult mutation might change that theory [note NCYT is VERY on the ball here]. Just my observations Stay safe Tony
Porky9 With regard to the LFT doing more harm than good.:- As you know ,my family have very bad experience from CV19. My staff nurse daughter is still having a bad time with the infection, after having a better 24 hrs. a couple of days ago. Another family experience this year gives an insight into the variation in affect:- my grandson joined the prison service ,just as CV19 broke out, contracted the disease, found thro 'routine PCR to prisons, and did'nt know he'd got it except for the test.
In the early BEEB covid afternoon meetings, one of the science team was asked about tests bought from China [I believe 3 Million was the volume]. They explained upon testing these ; their unreliability mean't they were worse than having no test at all.. !! Seems to me that's where we are with LFT,and the 'experts' have forgotten their own findings ,in the rush to show they are catching up with a volume testing stratedgy ?
Final point about this type tests. Last night,my daughter's hospital representative was on BBC SW . 10% of staff are off sick, a high proportion with CV19,which is bringing the hospital to a crisis point with staffing, and the staffing for nearby Nightingale.. Could some of this difficult problem have been avoided by not issuing LFT testing ,and thereby persons with asymptomatic CV19. being sent home sick earlier ?? By only using gold standard PCR testing ? Whereas, have some inadvertently added to the problem I rest my case. Tony
Porky 9 I suspect your 'turkey gest' was in fun. However just in case - Would point out two points, They are one of the most susceptable ,to disease ,poultry there are . A covid attack, would almost certainly wipe them out,at point of contact, and of course cooking would kill any 'bugs' subject to washing hands, carefully after handling.,[just as one should with chicken ,in that case because of possible salmonella contamination]. Tony
Firstly,my sincere thanks to the 'o' so kind messages you sent to our family .When one reads some of the comment on some boards ,it really gave me a lift. The news on my daughter is this morning she sounds thro' the worst. Two really bad 'fluey symptom days high temp, feeling freezing and sweating profusely,-just to give you a flavour of what covid really is like. She met her sister monday,FD for a local company, who now has to isolate for 10,not 14 days[all well so far]. It shows just how damaging covid is to society ,especially when one has the 'real' facts, and it hits so close to home.
The reason for my writing this morning ,is to 'Porky's 'comment, about care home LFT testing. Sadly this morning the BBC news was in contact with two care homes ,about 'the excitement of people now being able to visit carehomes after 'quick' tests', one in Scarborough, and one in London, both were awaiting LFT tests. I feel that in the light of the earlier problem from sending people ,without testing back to carehomes to make room in hospitals, this could create a second avoidable tradgedy. Please all, think carefully how you go about your lives ,stay safe Tony
SDI,in which i have a large position ,bought Monmouth this morning, who make fume cupboards, and safety material handling cupboards. Rivaldo has posted the new Finncapp report, . Monmouth-.'It is currently benefiting from a surge in demand for its biological safety cabinets, which are typically used to house PCR instruments – the backbone of COVID-19 testing. The company expects this to continue for the rest of the year'
Hope we sell a lot more 'Q' machines, and both investments may prosper ??
Tony
The Telegraph were talking about travel passports on Sunday. My understanding was PCR tests[and we are probably the best with WHO approval] would CURRENTLY be the only acceptable test, due to accuracy. I found it rather strange ,this morning BBC ,that the Heathrow boss was talking about LFT quick tests, did wonder if this was ONLY for those landing ,to shorten quarantine ?? Anyone pick up on this ?? Cheers stay safe Tony
Unfortunately, your last line is probably near the truth. With the BBC news last night a female clinician was saying how the LFT tests wer'nt accurate . I can further add the SW BBC news showed the Mayor of Teignmouth taking one of these tests,so he could visit his mum ,in a care home. My daughter works for RD&E hospital Exeter ,and I can confirm the hospital staff are to be regularly tested with these tests. So they are getting more embedded ,even though there are some strong queries about their validity. Cheers stay safe Tony
