Wyld Networks and Spider Digital Sign Agreement to Deploy Wyld Connect Satellite IoT Solutions in Bangladesh for Environmental Monitoring and Maritime Asset Tracking
Spider Digital is a security and intelligence technology company located in the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, North America and Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is one of the countries with the lowest carbon dioxide emissions, but is one of the most affected by climate change. It is estimated that by 2050, one in seven citizens of Bangladesh will have been forced to move as a result of climate change. The country could also lose up to 11% of its land mass through flooding, which is predicted to force eighteen million people to migrate. This will have a significant human cost and comes with severe food insecurity in a country dependent on agriculture and fishing.
Spider intends to deploy the Wyld satellite IoT solution to help predict and mitigate the effects of climate change by collecting data for rainfall measurement, water levels, soil moisture, salinity and carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, the solution will be used to manage, protect and track maritime assets in the fishing industry, supporting multiple fishing fleets and over three million fishermen, over an area covering 2,000,000 km2. Fishing is the second largest export industry in the country.
"We are very pleased to be working with Spider to deploy our satellite IoT solution to help collect data from sensors which can assist in reducing the impact of agricultural flooding and support the critical fisheries sector in Bangladesh," said Alastair Williamson CEO of Wyld Networks.
