I don't think that explanation is correct...the way I remember it, there was a document posted which either was or wasn't a genuine report from the Business Department of the CAB. The gist of the report was that the economic case for the mine was made and it was concluded that it would have greater economic benefits for the Community than the reindeer business. I was going on holiday the day it was published and I put in an order for a top up, I was off line at the time and the sp rose to 17p on the strength of that true or false report. When I got back the link to the document had disappeared, the CAB had given their opinion against the mine and the sp had tanked. There were a lot of false documents about at the time...one describing Kallak as a uranium mine, purported (I assumed it was a fake) to be from the Head of UNESCO. I don't know if the report was true or not..but somebody made a handsome profit.

Hopefully the new Minister understands 'spin' and he can deal with it appropriately to everyone's best advantage.

Its eight and a half years since the Application was filed with the Bergsstaten...I think the four years is the four (ish) years it's been on the Government's table. They had it twice, if you remember the Nora Karr business which delayed it another year.

He's taken action, Chute...the previous Minister did nothing until he was pressed to do something by the KU Committee and his action then was to set in motion the last resort in delaying tactics...an appeal to UNESCO, which I believe was called for by the Sami Parliament several years ago. He's given them a deadline and that indicates he means business in sorting it out...it looks positive to me.

Good letter this morning from the Boss to the Minister, polite and respectful but making reference to "false promises" made by the previous Minister...damn lies actually in the light of the KU Investigation. Curious, isn't it, how unexpected life can be...who'd have imagined it...an S Government without the MP before the next election...brings us forward a year. :-)
