When they get it in Swedish they'll want it in Sami, which would be a bit more difficult...there are nine Sami languages but only written I believe since the last century. According to Wiki, Northern Sami has about 1500 speakers and Southern Sami about 500, in Norway, Sweden and Finland. Different areas speak a form of the language not understood in other areas, indicating there was very little contact between the different groups. Might have been the same in Britain about two thousand years ago...Mercia men might not have understood Wessex men. Tide like an ever rolling stream bears all it's sons away. On we go then. :-)

We picked up somewhere on the grapevine didn't we that the extended date was 7 January; seems it's a rumour the Company hasn't heard. I'm sure the Sami can manage to put it through Google translate a few times by then...but I expect they'll demand an official copy direct from UNESCO. On the other hand...the UNESCO representative has an office in Stockholm..so no problem...we wont be waiting another year for it. Lol.

So the Sami are now wanting a Swedish translation of the letter sent from UNESCO on 21 June 21? Why haven't they bothered then to get one before now...or am I misunderstanding the situation.

In the two villages on the Kallak peninsular...the population is about fifty people...last figure I saw it was 49.

Most recent opinion poll from Sifo gives the green party 3.2% and if they can't improve on that by next September they wont qualify for any seats in the Riksdag. And the Social Democrats have shot up to 31.1% since the leadership has changed, best they've done for about 18 months.

In 15 years that the Government in Sweden has governed alone, without being in an alliance with another party...according to BBC News. I don't think a cross party endeavour has a familiar ring to it at all, quite the contrary...we know what the Green Party's endeavour was and it wasn't how to make it happen it was how to prevent it. And I don't personally believe Minister Damberg wanted to kick the can down the road, he actually made positive statements about mining and the process application; you'll remember...minerals are where they are, etc, not to mention "the decision will be made before Easter...and on and on". I don't think it was his fault I think he was prevented from dealing with it "by the book" to keep the MP happy. A problem that is now overcome, almost miraculously. :-)

Since it's now apparent that there's some cross party endeavour in this matter with the Moderates, that Interpellation question from Lars Hjalmered might be slightly less valid.

The delay to the 7 January is nothing...it's the holiday period when everything stops anyway.

There's no need to shout TOPS and you're being absurd again...the Minister having an accident has got nothing to do with the drop in the sp...it could equally well have been the announcement that the time given for a response from the Sami has been extended to 7 January. Extensions don't go down very well here because we've had too many of them but it's only 22 days and over the holiday period. The most likely reason is that people have taken profit...isn't that to be expected? There will be an exit price for many people on the road to the announcement.
