My pension BB28 Feb 2019 18:34
BB for some time I was in the Lloyd's final salary scheme which even the mighty Prudential said they could not better. When I left the scheme as we moved over to a money purchase job about 20 years ago St.James Place came in to advise as I chose to invest my own funds rather than what everyone else did. I chose to invest 90% abroad either in the far east or in the states most of which were all USD earning (St.James place said they could not vote against my choices) many earn't far more than me (and they are still working) my pension grew 20% year on year every year for 20 years -happy days. I left early when I had had enough (and found it is surprising how little you can survive on when not buying suits, train tickets, beers, etc. I am not someone who needs material things and now have time to help others locally. I was unfortunate, or fortunate (depends which was you look at it) in that everyone wanted my job as they felt they could do it better than me, and so in the end I left it to them!! Ha, HA. I did not like certain aspects of the job such as the commuting and the Politics. I do not miss London at all.
