Just seen the shorters have reduced their allocation to now just over 0.50% to stand at 0.59% and so they have taken the opportunity to come back in and close up their shorts at the earliest opportunity. This means to me three things. 1. They have made good money and closed their position on other people selling (which I have not done). but I cannot blame them. 2. The fact they have done this reflects that they see this as a blip, rather than a longer term slump, and 3. They might even start to turn long and at these prices to start supporting, or have resold when they bought back? Time will tell, but it seems to me today is an over reaction as the bad news we already know, but there is one or two pieces of news that is very positive.

Thanks Has, yes in my opinion a good time to come in. I regret some do not agree and they are entitled to their own opinion, many of those are well known to this board and come and go, but funnily enough do seem to always turn up when the news gets slightly tainted and then they try to add ammunition to get the price down further whilst they stock up at a lower price, or have shorted.
I ignore those comments and just look at what is said by the releases I can see the Management actually do act quite quickly but sometimes in life a turnaround can take longer than we all hoped for but when it happens particularly with shares it can happen for no apparent reason, almost overnight. I have NOT sold any of my shares here and have recently topped up for my wife as well as myself. Eventually a solution will be found as the Govt. of Tanz and Acacia and Barrick will all benefit it we can work together for the same cause.

I see it like this the Management are under pressure yes but are not exactly sitting on their laurels either. The new appointments from an Accounting / Merchant Bank/ Geology Background make sense as does the relationship with Barrick/Randgold. The new staff look qualified to do a good job. Production techniques have changed to bring production back into line, perhaps may even eventually excess estimates. Discoveries and new mining outside of Tanzania looks more of a possibility, particularly in Kenya, as we move towards an International arbitration dispute with hearing being held. The G.O.T recently lost a big case against a Japanese firm recently and they will try and avoid this route if they can too. I feel a lot going on here and in difficult circumstances the Management are actually being quite proactive and appear to have a positive outlook. . .

My God father used to be their Company Sec. and this Company has a very good reputation for looking after staff, being a very professional employer. Now it is the largest Brewer in the Uk, and ready to cash in on the good weather as you say, and also the supermarkets where expansion has been rapid. I also see more people staying for holidays in the Uk at the moment which will help too and the dividends are working on yields of about 7.30% (far more than any Uk bank account will pay) and so I see this as a good solid Company for the Institutions.

Looks to me as if the fortunes for CEY have turned for the good. I hope they continue to regain the ground they have lost when they were downgraded for hitting a poorer quality vein of rock, now that they are discovering a better quality product.
No debt, costs under control whats not to like.

I can see the international pressure on Tanzania to get their house in order as a good thing. This should help us with Acacia finding either an international solution, or a domestic one. The fact Acacia produce Gold which is an International recognised commodity also helps in my opinion, as if the home currency is worth less the Gold itself which is rated in USD will become worth more. Certainly it now looks as if Acacia are not in isolation with the International community recognising help is required to the Country. I can also now see why Acacia would want to start exploring other opportunities in other Countries where it appears in one other Country in particular they are almost ready to go. My opinion on Acacia has not changed which I still see has tremendous upside. Lets see what the results due out tomorrow and more especially the comment bring us.

I would start reading up on the recent releases and visit the Company website to bring you up to speed. All shares are cyclical as you may well know. You could also visit the Barrick web too, most here do that as well.

This share is what I would describe as High risk, but most here who owns shares are here for high returns. Best of luck whatever you decide over the next few days, or however long it takes to make your decision. I am here for the longer term and can afford to wait, as I also invest in a wide range of shares and Companies across the market, but this notice board is the most interesting by far.

Hi VIntage thanks for the report. the interesting thing is that the Court is asking for further information and so where there is a will there could be a way to lift the ban? It stands to reason all will benefit with the G.O.T included. If the right answers can be found. I did actually send off to Acacia the Citizen article this morning asking for an update into how the situation can be resolved. I have been told we will have an update on 25th with 1st Qtr results.

Acacia are due to make another statement on 25th April and so hopefully this will now bring us better news that we need, and also i proving conditions and results. A mention may also be included with an update on the Chinese discussions.

I could not access your link Realist but maybe you can precis what is being conveyed?

If the mighty Barrick have felt they have concluded the issue for Acacia the repeated messages of "we continue to engage" do not account for anything. So if the talks have not been concluded and have broken down why not start the arbitration as this might bring about a conclusion for sure. Most are settled before actually stepping into the court but we must have agreements in place that need cementing in stone. Also shareholders could do with the loss of interest and compensation.. The tables need to be reversed.

Franky agree with you in fact when will the GOT realize they too will gain from the Companies doing well, in the form of taxes on earned exports, and other commissions they will earn. They have recently been shown to loose at the International Arbitration Court as well with a Japanese Firm (from memory) if they want to encourage a greater investment then they need to realize the fear other Countries and Companies have of trading in the current climate, where most Companies such will stay clear. Even Acacia is now looking at diversifying into other Countries now too. However they should have done this three years ago.

No worries Ellie many thanks for the updates. I suppose as we are now into April we will see full 1st Qtr results. With higher Gold prices for the Qtr perhaps the news might have one or two pleasant surprises. I also hear on the news that the Koreans have witnessed a new weapon of mass destruction with more complex capabilities, perhaps this might have another positive effect on Gold prices too? Hopefully our luck will turn for the better sooner rather than later.

If not tomorrow could be next week. Hopefully better nwa to send us back up.

Don't blame you as with all the volatility you could do very well here. We do seem to get be getting support from someone and the shorters interest has reduced I have seen a week ago. .

One thing the Govt of Tanz can do to help is lifting the export ban on the composites and this will increase sales = more tax- easy. Perhaps the composites can be inspected by an independant bureau for the make up of what actually is contained within it to conclude any doubt.-easy.

Did I hear someone say this was not going to be Easy? Come on chaps this can be sorted and everyone wins.

We all suffer loses on the way to gains occasionally. Even what people once called safety stocks. IE. The Banks and BT, Vodafone and many others. There has been a rise in firms such as Amazon, and Ocado, and even the Supermarkets have suffered as a result of intense competition. Interest rates are low, so not much interest from banks. I will like you wait for Acacia to come back. I still feel this has a greater opportunity to do well than many other shares I own. More and more we read that Countries are looking for Gold to balance their currencies no longer relying on US Dollars. This will help demand for Gold going forward.

Suggest the only reason for any delay in the talks is due to the total number of parties/ interests involved.
ie. For Acacia they have a duty to safe guard their staff and protect them against any prosecution. They will also have as I have said before Political risk Insurance. They will therefore have to consult with and have Insurers and their Lawyers agree in advance of any proposal. This is so the Lawyers and Insurers retain control. The G.O.T. and Barrick will also have to agree, and with all these parties involved I can see if they are talking now then we will see a conclusion very soon. This is frustrating looking from the outside for people who do not have the Political risk experience but believe me this is not unusual and I would have put a time of about 2 months from when Barrick first made their announcement of progress is not unreasonable. The best Lawyers for this type of event will be employed who are very experienced in International arbitration (which is still another option) but I expect a break through to come now very soon. Many have said otherwise to be quite blunt it will be embarrassing for Barrick and this loss of dignity or bad faith or business goodwill is worth far more than any difference in currency of share price many on here have suggested. MB is one man who appreciates this very thing when creating trust the most important thing when trying to be an international deal maker.

I hear talks are underway - it is just the proposal is not yet finalised.

Acacia have said after changing the system of work at N.Mala that now expect production to still be as anticipated for the year, and as previously forecast.

Pistachio lets go too nutty now. If you owned 63% plus of a Company would you honestly sell as a reduced price -absolutely not. The people you have mentioned are not stupid. If they were going to sell their share they would wait for the price to be a whole lot better to make the most of a good price.

They will first make an announcement the share price will rise significantly then they will more likely sell. However who knows what is around the corner we could start mining in Kenya first? perhaps that is why they are waiting?
